Mile #19: the "Paul Ryan Finish Line"

  • by: ProgressNow Colorado

Today at mile marker #19 at the Denver Rock and Roll Marathon. By “Paul Ryan math,” these runners could call themselves winners right here! Thousands of good sports who got the joke today. Great job, you’re all “sub-three” to us at ProgressNow Colorado.

  1. Is this a reference to Ryan’s alleged sub-three hour time, which was actually a tad over four?  If so, to get the math right, you ought to knock off about five miles, approximately one fourth of 22, putting Ryan’s finish at Mile 17.  Am I missing something?

      1. I was confused because some commentator doubting Ryans three-hour claim said he’d have to average 7 mph.   actually, he would have to have been closer to 9 mph.   But for a liar, why not?

        1. What he did was get to this point sub 3- then teleported to the end instantly.

          Obviously.

HIs running mate does everything retroactively – he just does everything instantly.

        2. I suspect they were saying “7-minute miles”.

          2:50 = 170 min

          170 min/26 mi = ~7 min/mi

When you’re training or racing, you measure this with your watch w/o having to do any math.
