  1. Poor Bobes.  She just can't not.

  2. Washington Post finds An unlikely Republican steps up to undercut GOP’s Trumpian exploits [gift link – no paywall]

Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) has in recent months carved out something of a novel profile in the GOP. He’s sharply undercutting some of its central political efforts, and he’s doing so from the very segment of the party that has driven the party in that direction.

He has called into question the wisdom and constitutionality of its impeachment-related efforts; he expressed faith in the FBI and Director Christopher A. Wray as much of his party was pillorying them; and he is among the relatively few Republicans to treat the criminal charges against former president Donald Trump seriously, even saying a conviction would be disqualifying in his mind.

  3. Meanwhile, Rome burns.

  4. I took in both movies last weekend. Enjoyed them both for  different reasons, but what I found the most exciting was that people seemed generally excited to be out and around other people. The cinematic experience may indeed be back.

  5. Huh.  Never thought of putting the words "Trump" and "chess" in the same sentence.

    1. It works if you think of it in the "pigeon playing chess" sense, i.e., he knocks over the pieces, takes a dump on the board, and struts around as though he won.

    2. Yes, most definitely "chess at the highest level"

“How can Deranged Jack Smith bring a case on January 6th., as ridiculous as it is anyway, when I have already won such a case, and been fully acquitted, in the U.S. Senate?”

File that Truth Social comment in the completely overstuffed "It doesn't work that way" file…

      1. I guess if you’re appearing on FOX you gotta’ admire a stable genius Grandmaster chess strategist who stores secret documents and other countries’ antiquities in the boxes in his bathroom so he can do stable-genius stuff with them every morning while he’s issuing the first tweets of each day as he plots new potential grifts while emptying his diapers into the golden crapper?????

I suppose it does qualify as a kind of remarkable when you ponder upon it???

        1. Grandmaster chess … give an interview, insist it be taped, and announce there's a secret document in a stack that you didn't declassify.

Then come up with the lame excuse that the statement was talking about a pile of newspapers, nothing secret about it.

  6. One of my brothers had a college roommate who was a Grandmaster. He was incredibly bright. Trust me, The Screaming Yam ain't one. He would play pigeon chess as described by Genghis, above.
