Oops! Georgia Court Leaks Document Full of Trump Felonies

  • by: Colorado Pols

UPDATE 9:10PM: Indictment details are beginning to trickle out, and it appears that both Colorado-connected co-conspirators John Eastman and Jenna Ellis are set to face felony charges along with Donald Trump:

—–

UPDATE 7:30PM: The wait’s over, reports the Washington Post:

An Atlanta-area grand jury returned an indictment Monday night after hearing from witnesses earlier in the day in the probe into whether former president Donald Trump and his associates broke the law when they sought to overturn Trump’s 2020 election loss in Georgia. Who has been indicted and the exact charges are not yet known.

The high-profile investigation, led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D), is widely expected to result in multiple charges for several defendants — including Trump and several close associates.

UPDATE: Rep. Lauren Boebert assumes it’s all part of the conspiracy:

—–

As Politico’s Kelly Garrity reports, an itchy metaphorical trigger finger offered a brief glimpse of the felony charges being considered against former President Donald Trump by a Georgia grand jury, which could pending that body’s decision become very public by the end of the week:

The county court in Georgia where Donald Trump is expected to be charged this week briefly posted and then quickly removed a document on Monday detailing several charges against the former president over his alleged election interference in the state in 2020.

The Fulton County document, first reported by Reuters, includes Trump’s name and lists the case status as “open.” It’s dated Aug. 14, and timed-stamped 12:39 p.m. The document lists 12 felony counts and one serious felony count for violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, Act. According to Reuters, charges have not been filed against Trump…

The publication and quick removal of the document comes as Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis appears to be on the verge of bringing criminal charges in her investigation into Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in that state.

The limited information about the charges listed in this quickly-retracted document appear to span alleged crimes from the day after the 2020 presidential election through September of 2021. That includes two charges dated January 2nd, 2021, the day of Trump’s phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger asking Raffensperger to “reevaluate” the result of the election in that state.

Of all the charges outlined here, the most potentially serious for Trump as well as possible co-conspirators is Georgia’s racketeering law, which allows the prosecutor to piece together the conspiracy and the actions of multiple players in the commission of a larger crime. These are also, of course, state charges that not even Trump himself could pardon in the event he (trigger warning) becomes President again.

It’s more than we were supposed to find out today, and needless to say we’re staying tuned.

  1. On Fox, Hannity is interviewing Newt Gingrich who sounds like he’s about to start crying. I love it!

I’m surprised they’ve torn themselves away from the “border crisis,” or Hunter Biden, or where transgender folk can shit.

  2. I know I'm being greedy, but with all those co-conspirators,  wasn't there some way to include two Donald J. Trumps in the indictment? And then if Junior rats out his dad . . .. Sorry, I getting lost in the moment.

    1. Junior will not be the first of F.D.F.Q.'s spawn to turn state's evidence on dad. We all know that Vanky will be the first to do that.

    1. “Fanni Willis should be relieved of her position.”

If all goes well, Ms. Boebert will be relieved of her position in less than 15 months.

      1. Boebert (or whoever expressed the "thought" on her behalf) can't even spell the name "Fani" correctly.

With the work of the investigative grand jury and the indicting grand jury already done, with court documents already filed and warrants issued, removing DA Fani Willis would stick out and trigger national comments.  There would likely be both political costs to Republicans as a brand AND economic consequences, as out-of-state economic interests see Georgia as a swamp of corruption.

Gov. Kemp, the official who would need to do the deed, is no friend of Donald J. Trump and the bunch of Yankee minions who tried & failed to steal an election.  And I've seen little to indicate he wants only the MAGA elements of the Republican Party to support him.

              1. So, she isn't nearly as stupid as she pretends to be?

I guess she doesn't want the true MAGAdonians to think she some kind of uppity elitist.

  3. My first thought upon seeing the news of the Georgia indictments of Trump and gang was, "Will Gov. Brian Kemp simply pardon Trump, etc. so they can escape justice?"

I just found out that in my sweet Georgia, they do it differently down there:

But a governor for New York state could one day pardon Trump if he's convicted in the hush-money case. In Georgia, on the other hand, the state's governor doesn't have the power to grant pardons. Instead, they're granted by Georgia's State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

What's more, the Peach State says anyone who wants to apply to that five-member panel for a pardon "must wait until at least five years have elapsed since the applicant was released from supervision (including probation and/or parole)," meaning Trump would face a long wait for a pardon if he were convicted in Fulton County.

That already has sparked some calls from Trump's supporters for changing Georgia's laws and giving more power to the current governor, Brian Kemp, a Republican who has often been at odd with Trump, who has a big lead in polls for the 2024 GOP presidential primary.

  4. Good to see Jenna Ellis on this list. She’s already admitted to lying and been censured for it by the Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation.
