  1. Republican Region Life Expectancy 5 years lower than Democratic Regions.

(Obviously there is more to it… but just look at the maps.)

“We don’t have these differences in health outcomes because of individual behaviors, it’s related to the policy environments people are living in,” says Jeanne Ayers, who was Wisconsin’s top public health official during the Covid pandemic and is now executive director of Healthy Democracy Healthy People, a collaboration of 11 national public health agencies probing the links between political participation and health. “Your health is only 10 percent influenced by the medical environment and maybe 20 or 30 percent in behavioral choices. The social and political determinants of health are overwhelmingly what you’re seeing in these maps.”

Maybe a better title would be “Conservative Policies Cause People to Die Younger.” And, this isn’t about MAGA or Trump, it is about the bedrock Conservative belief system that public goods like health and education are socialist gifts to “those” people.

    1. To get tricksy on the statistical implications…

Life expectancy is going down in the US, which means that Social Security start age should also be lowered. But, since a longer life expectancy is expected if you live in a Democratic region, then it logically follows that Democrats should be forced to start Social Security at a later age than Republicans.

    2. Solutions? Easy-peasy.

So how to improve the situation? Lloyd-Jones, the preventive medicine expert at Northwestern University, says it’s all about the policy environment people live in.

“If you just want to move the needle on longevity in the short term, aggressive tobacco control and taxation policies are about the quickest way you can do that,” he says. “But for the long term we really have to launch our children into healthier trajectories by giving them great educational and socioeconomic opportunities and access to clean air and water and healthy foods.”

  2. Paging Mayor Johnson…

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert kicked out of Colorado Theater…. Accused Of Causing Disturbance.

Boebert (R-CO) and the guy she was with got into it with workers at Denver’s Buell Theater Sunday night after patrons complained they were “causing a disturbance,” according to an incident report obtained by the Denver Post.

The police report noted Boebert and her buddy told theater staff “stuff like ‘do you know who I am,’ ‘I am on the board’ [and] ‘I will be contacting the mayor.’”

    1. Holy "D" cups, Batman! Do you suppose those things are stuffed with government cheese?

Any ID on her attentive companion? I don't think it is her estranged husband.

        1. I believe that is her purse he is carrying. It IS damned hard to strut when you are carrying a bag.
