UPDATE #4: Rep. Lauren Boebert explains her vote, warning darkly of the precedent set by expelling a member of Congress prior to their formal conviction:
Expelling an elected official without due process is an extreme measure and sets a dangerous precedent that I could not support. George Santos was elected by New York’s Third Congressional District voters and until the day he is actually convicted of a crime, it should have been up to those voters [Pols emphasis] whether or not he remained in Congress.
The same standard should now apply to President Joe Biden, who Boebert is determined to impeach and remove from office with or without evidence–right? If it does, we assume those impeachment efforts will end today. By Boebert’s own reckoning, until Santos, Biden, or any other elected official is convicted of a crime it’s the voters who should decide.
Something tells us a new double standard is about to be created.

UPDATE #3: No word yet from George Santos’ friend Rep. Lauren Boebert, who voted with the minority to keep Santos in Congress, but before the vote she signaled her intentions clearly:
We’ll update whenever we hear what she’s saying now.

UPDATE #2: Statement from Rep. Jason Crow gets right to the point:
Rep. George Santos was just expelled from the House of Representatives, making him the 6th Representative EVER to be expelled.
He blatantly stole from his campaign to enrich himself, spending thousands of dollars on Botox, OnlyFans, and Hermes, among other things.
There’s serious work to be done in Congress, and Rep. Santos’ behavior has no place here.

UPDATE: Colorado GOP Rep. Ken Buck sticks to his word for once and votes to expel George Santos from Congress. Rep. Lauren Boebert voted to keep her babysitter as expected, and Doug Lamborn appears to set aside principle to be on the wrong side of this vote as well.

That’s the news from Washington, D.C. this morning–despite a last-minute show of support from House Speaker Mike Johnson, indicted Rep. George Santos was expelled from the U.S. House this morning with the motion receiving the necessary two-thirds support:
We’ll update with how our Colorado lawmakers voted and reactions shortly. Looks like Lauren Boebert will need a new babysitter after all.

Maybe the Ethics Committee will do something about Boebert's campaign fund "reimbursements" next.
Apparently, Boobert forgets that you also need something called "evidence" before you even make accusations, much less start a prosecution. But changing the subject slightly…
Interesting new addition — a countdown clock on the edit function?
Jason Crow needs to get out more. It is Hermès and not Hermes.
Most corrupt Congresscritters have the moral sense to resign when caught rather than making their colleagues vote them out. Santos is different like Trump is different; no moral sense, only self-privilege.
Saw yesterday that over 11,000 have served as members of the House. Santos is the 6th to be expelled. He's special.
Once expelled, it didn't take long for follow up action: His office locks were changed. His name plaque was taken down.
I was pleased to read that his office staff in Washington and in his district are considered employees of Congress, so they did not lose their jobs in the same instant. They will continue until a new Representative is sworn in.
