  1. Right to Flunk Female Students who have an abortion. Amanda Marcotte at Salon.

A pair of Texas professors figured out that their female students have sex and, boy, they do not like it. So now the philosophy professor and finance professor are suing for the right to punish their students who, outside of class, have abortions.

"Pregnancy is not a disease, and elective abortions are not 'health care,'" University of Texas at Austin professor Daniel Bonevac sneers in a federal court filing with professor John Hatfield. Instead, Bonevac writes, because pregnancy is the result of "voluntary and consensual sexual intercourse," students should not be allowed time off to get abortions. If the students disobey and miss class for abortion care, the filing continues, the professors should be allowed to flunk students. Additionally, Bonevac asserts that he has a right to refuse to employ a teaching assistant who has had an abortion, calling such women "criminals."

The sexual hang-ups of abortion opponents are rarely far from the surface, but even by those low standards, the unjustified male grievance on display in this new Texas lawsuit is a doozy.

    1. They still allow female students to atttend school? Amazing!

For the Christian Taliban, I would think that banning would be more important than failing them.

  2. Looks like Franklin is moving to Plan C: for the love of God and all that is holy, isn't there a (white) Jesus somewhere in the Universe that will hear and respond to our plea commands!!

      1. Falwell, the Jr., Trump, Graham. All mediocre men with limited talent that we'd never heard of if their daddies hadn't been rich.

  3. Will Donald Trump drop out and who would Republicans replace him? It was asked once immediately after trump was found guilty.  Really don’t know if trump would or wouldnt drop out. He hasn’t answered the question personally in an address explaining his position.

Now we have polls saying 49% of independent voters won’t vote for a felon. I doubt he would answer the question until we hear it asked from a number of news outlets. Will Donald Trump drop out and who would Republicans replace him?

Do I believe he would? I don’t know. I do know asking the question over and over would be a great thing to tie up Republicans with.

Will Donald Trump drop out and who would Republicans replace him?

    1. Ken Buck was a guest of Bill Maher last Friday night. I found him fairly subdued. Said he had no plans to vote for either candidate and couldn't help himself from veering off a could of times into standard Republican talking points, both times getting appropriately slapped back by Bill. Not a single question about CD-4 or the Bride of Beetlejuice.

    2. The short answer is, "No." The only way he is not on the ballot in November is if Prosperity Jezzus decides to "call him home."

Even if the bottom fell out as far as Trump’s appeal amongst independent voters, the base would still insist on running him again. Much like their reaction to the warnings in 1964 as to where they were headed come November.

      Better a choice than echo.

Besides, the election is only a step in the process, not the end of the process for the MAGA-verse.

If Trump wins, then game over.

If Trump narrowly loses, then the struggle begins to take back their country.

And if Trump loses in a landslide, in the eyes of the MAGA folk, that’s all the more evidence that the election was stolen.

      1. You may be right though I can think of 3 people who would be easily slotted in and wouldn’t cost them a dime in rebranding. Probably have a better shot too. Won’t mention their names nor the long list of self-funders who would jump for it.

Should he yes. Will he NO. All the more reason to have the question asked over and over in the media

Will Donald drop out and who would replace him?

        1. I think the only way he drops out is if there is a compensation package offered to him. Remember, if nothing else, he is transactional. The deal would need to include the following:

          1.  Full and absolute pardons in all relevant jurisdictions where he faces criminal jeopardy.

          2.  Indemnification by the federal government for all of the civil judgments against him.

          3.  A generous retirement compensation plan. The $246,000 per year retirement pay which ex-presidents receive is simply way too inadequate for Trump.

          4.  And he gets his boxes back.

Put that in writing and he may step aside.

          1. I think the value of asking "Will convicted felon Donald Trump step aside and who will replace him" is worth more. I think that if it's asked over and over it would weaken Republicans lower on the ticket who would have to act defensively.

    3. I'm all for asking the question an endless number of times – will Trump drop out of the race and who would replace him. But don't get sidetracked, folks. For DiaperDon (when he was first elected I called him TrumpsterFire but that is too kind), there is only one thing that is important, and that is keeping his ugly ass out of prison. I think even the money comes second to that because he has a spigot of funds that flows 24/7 from the idiot MAGA base, plus a few billionaires who believe they would gain from another Trump Presidency.

      1. It is important to remember these numbers are reported by the guy who just got convicted of falsifying documents. I don't think those numbers are actual cash money, anyway. It will be interesting to compare the numbers with their next report.
