  1. Harris Chooses Progressive VP – Sorry Repubs.

Thank goodness for socialism: Walz is literally in favor of free lunch. It’s almost like one of the Squad is in the White House.

The legislature passed and Walz signed a slew of major progressive bills, including provisions making breakfast and lunch free for all students, allowing undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licensescreating a paid family leave program and providing state funds to help lower-income people buy homes.

I don’t want to give the governor all the credit. The state legislature also played a huge role. But many Democratic governors in blue states (such as New York’s Kathy Hochul) seem to revel in blunting the initiatives of liberal state legislators.

By contrast, Walz was ecstatic about enacting a liberal agenda in a state nowhere near as Democratic-leaning as New York. And in his informal campaign over the past few weeks to become Harris’s running mate, Walz did not distance himself from his record or the party’s left wing. Instead, the Minnesota governor rightly argued that many progressive ideas, such as offering free meals to all students, are good and practical. As Walz puts it, “You don’t win elections to bank political capital — you win elections to burn political capital and improve lives.

    1. I really love that last quote about political capital. Check it out magats, somebody actually gets elected to do good things !

I swore it would be Shapiro. I was wrong. Still an excellent choice.

  2. I think the best thing about choosing Walz is that because he wasn’t one of the top 3 or 4 candidates, the media haven’t yet had a chance to get hold of him and worry him like a bulldog with a soup bone. They haven’t gotten their hands on every speech he’s ever given, every vote he took in Congress, and every bill he’s signed or vetoed as Governor. He’ll be able to introduce himself to the rest of the country on the campaign trail, while the media race to catch up.

            1. Did it ever occur to you that the fact that she was an ineffective gas bag with a screwed up sense of priorities played a role in voters rejecting her?

  3. Tots and pears for Rep. Andy Ogles, who just had his phone seized by the FBI by "court order," a/k/a a search warrant supported by probable cause.  Cellebrite is going to have fun unearthing his campaign finance chicanery.  Grand jury at the ready.
