Pam Bondi (next in the Senate barrel for U.S. A.G.) can go with them. She was the A.G. in FL during the marriage equality battles. She was also one of Yammie-pie’s lawyers in the first impeachment. I've had communications with line AUSAs who are considering leaving, given who some USAs are likely to be. I'm not sure it's realistically possible to make a worse pick than Gaetz, but she wouldn't be my choice for AG in the ideal world in which we no longer live. And I'm getting the sense that I might soon get sick of the word "fealty."

I doubt Gaetz would be a candidate for the special election – that would almost certainly resuscitate the Ethics process.
If PAB doesn't find Gaetz no-Senate-confirmation-required position in the next administration, DeSantis can always send him to the Senate after Rubio gets confirmed as Secretary of State.
