FOX 31's Eli Stokols:
District Attorney Mitch Morrisey has filed formal charges against Franklin Sain, who sent a series of harrasing emails and voicemails to the sponsor of two gun control proposals, FOX31 Denver has confirmed.
Sain, 42, faces one charge of harassment and one charge of attempting to influence a public official, which is a felony.
A felony conviction for Franklin Sain would have the ironic effect of stripping him of the gun rights he was willing to defend, allegedly, by telling Rep. Rhonda Fields that he is "coming for you" and expressing hope that she gets "Gifforded," in between repeated disparaging references to Rep. Fields' ethnicity and gender and the guns he owns–promising, if Rep. Fields' bills pass, that "many will be killed." Sain's attorney is claiming "free speech," but the conduct alleged here goes beyond any reasonable interpretation of that freedom.
And if he loses his guns, we won't weep.

If Franklin Sain broke the law, he should pay the price.
But I already know Colorado Pols will not weep when the people lose their guns.
a gun owner should never lose or misplace their guns. I'm really annoyed at myself for losing track of a pistol around here
I hope it wasn't loaded.
not. only one of my guns is loaded, the one in my bedside table. the others are unloaded, always, prior to leaving the range
I love how you just can't condemn the man and leave it at that. I guess when politics is more about the team, as it is with conformist-minded conservatives, it's hard to criticize someone from your side, no matter how reprehensible their actions.
Wow. So few words. So much butthurt.
And when might that be, ArapaGOP? Name one law currently under consideration by the Colorado General Assembly that would actually result in any law-abiding Coloradan "losing their guns."
It doesn't matter how many times you say it, it isn't true that the Dem plan is to take away people's guns. Millions of Dems own guns and plan to keep them. If a felon loses his guns, isn't that supposed to be something Republicans are for? Or don't you claim to be the law and order party anymore. You do seem more concerned with maintaining an arsenal for fighting off police and the US military in your paranoid fantasies than with supporting law and order these days.
Background checks in all cases instead of just some isn't taking away people's guns. Limiting the number of rounds available without reloading isn't taking away people's guns. Repitition doesn't make lies true.
No surprise you have yet to express any sympathy for a woman whose child was threatened and subsequently murdered for doing his duty as a citizen to help bring a killer to justice and who is now receiving vile threats including threats of death to her remaining child. No surprise that you aren't expressing any serious condemnation of the pig who would subject that woman to those threats, either. You are more interested in calling us meanies for not understanding the poor guy's frustration and accusing us of having certain intentions without a scrap of evidence to back up your paranoid claims.
Maybe Sain, in an effort to plead out, ought offer to change his last name to Insain
The guy really lost his marbles. The scary part is, from the description of his job history, he's almost certainly held a high-level security clearance for many years.
