Debbie Ortega Hits the Ground Running!

Debbie Ortega Turns In Signatures, Forms Campaign Team, and Welcomes New Endorsements.

Debbie Ortega, former four-term Denver City Councilwoman, and two-term Council President, and now Candidate for the At-Large City Council Seat, has turned in nearly twice as many signatures as is required to get on the ballot for the May 3rd, 2011 Election.

Debbie has also brought on some experienced Denver area political staffers to help her campaign as it gets underway after last week’s official kick-off.  Former Romanoff for Colorado Political Director Sam Lopez Jr., and former Bennet for Colorado Deputy Political Director and No on 63 Campaign Director Ben Gordon have joined Ortega’s team, bringing many years, as well as a wide variety of political campaign work to help the experienced Denver pol’s campaign.

The campaign was also thrilled to announce a group of new endorsements.  Joining the list of supporters are former Denver City Council members Susan Barnes Gelt and Sal Carpio, former RTD Board member Juanita Chacon, current state Senator Lucia Guzman, state Reps Mark Ferrandino and Joe Miklosi, and former state Senator Gloria Tanner.  Also supporting Debbie are current DPS board members Jeanne Kaplan and Mary Seawell.

  1. I’ve heard several people talking about bridging the divide from last fall, with Bennet and Romanoff staff working side by side.  I wonder if the old rivalries ever come up or if everyone really does get along well now.  It was a pretty nasty street fight last year.

    1. can you post a little more information about your candidate’s views?  I know there are a handful of strong candidates and I’m legitimately undecided on my second “at-large” vote.  What makes you stand out?  It sounds like you have a good team together, but what are they working towards?  What will you do on city council that’s better than the others?
