A flyer now circulating for a protest to be held on the steps of the Colorado Capitol this Sunday at high noon:
According to Gun Rights Across America's Facebook page, Sunday's rally is set to be attended by a slew of 2014 Republican political candidates, including Sens. Greg Brophy and Owen Hill, Ken Buck, Tom Tancredo, and many others.
But then the Denver Post's Kurtis Lee took note of a big and kind of obvious problem:
Gun rally is from Noon- 2pm. Kickoff of the #Broncos game is 1pm Sun. #NotAGoodLook #copolitics (2/2)

As every Colorado resident not living under a rock knows, the Denver Broncos are in the NFL playoffs, and Sunday at 1PM they'll kick off the AFC championship game at Mile High Stadium against the New England Patriots. Now presumably, of course, this rally was scheduled well in advance of the Broncos making the playoffs–and even if it wasn't, you can't expect these American patriots (note small p) to just stand down while their constitutional rights are being ripped out of their beating chests by godless liberals and paraded before their eyes! With that said, you have to wonder if the organizers of Sunday's rally weren't quietly rooting for the San Diego Chargers last Sunday.
Is it too late to rent a Jumbotron? Otherwise, turnout seems likely to suffer–and not at Mile High.

Saw that. Though I've often felt like shooting people talking, texting or shifting position with their feet or knees against the back of my seat or letting their little darling kick repeatedly, I probably wouldn't actually do it even if I was carrying. Probably.
Where did this come from?

These are the same people promoting Victor Head running for Pueblo County Clerk. Put a plumber in charge of your voting rights!
Not hardly.
Sounds like a good plan . . .
. . . might help keep a couple of guns out of the stadium!
Maybe this is a cover for something else. I mean…lotsa gunzos?… empty building with limited security on staff? You see where I am going here…
I dunno' . . .
. . . there's already so many Republican guns at the Capitol these days. That CCW is the bling-du-jour of our tri-cornered tinfoil hat crowd. In fact, it's so common that to be a truly cool-kid stand out, now in 2014, you have to be pushing for "open carry" to maintain your right-wing edginess and street cred . . .
. . . just another daytrip for McMurphy and the boys from the asylum!
yikes!…
Will big nurse Ratched be in charge, and is she carrying? I've never quite understood concealed carry. If it's supposed to be some sort of deterrence, wouldn't it be better if some potentially felonious perp knew you were strapped? It's sort of like why do they carry out executions deep in the bowels of prisons and at ungodly hours, if they're to be deterrent wouldn't they be better in public? I suppose such things are what I get for believing gunhumpers of this sort capable of logic.I hope somebody is present to get an accurate count of attendance otherwise it's likely to be in the thousands all armed to the teeth.
I'm with you. Often thought you should only be able to carry openly. Cards on the table.
Me three. if you walk into a store with intent to rob it, wouldn't you think better of it if three of the six people in line had a pistol on their hip?
Townes Van Zandt:
Pancho was a bandit boy
His horse was fast as polished steel
He wore his gun outside his pants
For all the honest world to feel.
Although not written by the Hillbilly Dalai Lama, it is my absolute favorite song of his.
"To Live is to Fly" is mine. He wrote my life.
All the federales say
They would have had him anyway.
They only let him slip away
out of kindness I suppose. yes, a brilliant song.
Those specific lyrics have been on my mind recently. I like how Townes leaves it up to the listener to figure out for themselves what the true story might be: e.g., the federales were incompetent and couldn't catch him; they were competent but bribed; they were comptetent, but they actually really liked him and let him be. Who knows?
All the best lyrics and poetry are at least a little ambiguous.
The Ballad of Pancho and Lefty has been a regular tune in my repertoire for many years. I have sung it from Providence to Houston and it is one of most widely loved songs I cover.I always saw it as a story of betrayal…a Jesus/Judas kind of thing…it is, indeed, an extraordinary song.
ong.
Not songong…just song….
stupid phone… 🙂
I saw him in Houston in the early 1970s–just him and his guitar. One of the great shows of my life.
Townes talks Pancho & Lefty
The High Noon part is a nice typically self dramatizing juvenile touch.
Brilliant Dio. especially after the incident last Sunday.
Speaking of the gun lobby putting guns in the hands of kids, there has been another school shooting in Roswell, New Mexico this morning. Please keep the families in your thoughts and prayers.
Latest I could find was at least one person injured.

The ghunfreeks are truly, truly sad. All victims, all the time.
Yet they appear to have no idea how unbalanced and infantile they look to everyone else….
I think the Department of Health and Human Services should have Tasers ready and lots of Haldols to put these insane gun toters to the nearest mental institution. That's freedom for you.
Gun toting is not freedom of speech, and neither is perverting the Second Amendment to make sure all the insane people can own gun and kill people without any regrets. RMGO and NRA are perfect couple for Darwinsim. People who can't handle guns well will reduce themselves.
