Politics in Colorado are never boring, but 2014 is shaping up to be one of the craziest elections we’ve ever seen in the Centennial State. We’ve got a strip club owner running for office who just released a campaign ad about marijuana with Wyclef Jean and a candidate running for the state house on a platform of demon exorcism.
But perhaps the craziest of all the candidates we’ll see on the ballot in Colorado this year is the Republican candidate running for Governor named Bob Beauprez. Here’s a list of the ten wackiest things Beauprez has said on the record. Once you read it, we think you’ll agree Beauprez is the craziest Republican America has never heard of.
Climate change. Facebook fees. Any questions? Source
Then why does he want to be governor of THIS COLORADO at all?! Source
What a great 19th Century idea! Source
Where does he get this stuff? Source
This really brings Americans together. Source
Seriously? Source
That’s just crazy. Source
2007 called, wants its dumbest issue back. Source
Beauprez continued, “and it is among us. You know a lot of people think that we’re kind of out there along the fringe for even talking like this.” O-kay… Source
Not just wrong, but apparently some Republicans ARE against birth control. Source
That’s about as vile as it gets. Who needs Todd Akin? Source
Next time you hear Beauprez’s name, remember all the reasons why he’s too extreme for Colorado. In most cases, they’ve come out of his own mouth.

Excellent work, Alan…
very entertaining…thanks!
Regarding Beauprez's dismissal of pregnancies due to rape or incest being relatively few — if just one man got pregnant as a result of rape or incest, that would be one too many for Beauprez to tolerate.
Fortunately, except for Ahnold, men don't get preggers.
Each year in the US, 10,000–15,000 abortions occur among women whose pregnancies are a result of reported rape or incest. An unknown number of pregnancies resulting from rape are carried to term. There is absolutely no veracity to the claim that “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to shut that whole thing down.” A woman who is raped has no control over ovulation, fertilization, or implantation of a fertilized egg (ie, pregnancy). To suggest otherwise contradicts basic biological truths.
Any person forced to submit to sexual intercourse against his or her will is the victim of rape, a heinous crime. There are no varying degrees of rape. To suggest otherwise is inaccurate and insulting and minimizes the serious physical and psychological repercussions for all victims of rape.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (The College), a 501(c)(3) organization, is the nation’s leading group of physicians providing health care for women.
OK but are those legitimate rape figures? 'Cause I heard tell there's some magical anti sperm stuff released during "legitimate" rape but it don't work if she enjoys it. Just sayin'.
Very nice! Beauprez' greatest hits!
And I want to hear debate moderators ask him about all those thing and I want to see them turning up in ads. I want to see them in the newspapers. I want to see them on billboards. I don't want to see him continuing to get away with being seen as somehow a reasonable common sense kind of guy.
Because you've never said ANYTHING you regret or had a joke fall flat.
big difference is with Beauprez it happens everytime he opens his big mouth.
Moddy, pray tell, which ones are jokes and which are not? Inquiring minds want to know.
Moderatus: I voted for Scott Gessler in the Republican primary, as the least of evils. All the major candidates had baggage. Tom Tancredo was my #2 choice; while I disagree with many of his positions, he does have a reputation to at least listen. Beauprez is an inept fool; nothing more.
That's cute. Expecting Moddy to back up anything he says.
Thing2, the difference is that we're not running for office. Beauprez is- he want to be the guy in charge if/when we have another natural disaster or terrorist attack – I don't want someone who hates Muslims and doesn't trust women's judgement to be in charge at that point.
I wonder if BWB even knows a Muslim….?
Doubtful — that's what makes it so easy to hate, because it's not personal, it's prejudicial stereotyping.
BWB is not prone to deep thought.
You think he said all those things as "jokes"? seriously? Wow.
