Censoring parts of a Rocky Mountain News article, Doug Lamborn posted a “doctored” story on his website.
Rocky Mountain News, in response to the censorship ran the following stories.
http://www.rockymountainnews.c…
http://www.rockymountainnews.c…
Lamborn reproduced a recent Rocky Mountain News profile about his campaign on his Web site but deleted almost all criticisms in it leveled against him by businessman Jeff Crank and retired Air Force officer Bentley Rayburn.
In their place are ellipses denoting something was taken from the article.
It is not uncommon for candidates to feature stories that they feel are favorable to them on campaign sites, but it is extremely rare for them to edit the story to their liking.
Sentences removed
Three sentences from a Rocky Mountain News profile that Doug Lamborn removed from the story before posting it on his campaign Web site:
* “They say he lacks leadership or accomplishments in Congress.”
* “Opponents accuse him of ineffectiveness, pointing to only 34 votes he was able to get in trying to continue a study on expanding Fort Carson’s Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site.”
* “Despite criticisms of overspending on constituent mailers – he’s spent more than any other House member from Colorado. . . . “
