Thank you, #Fossilonian, for making me blow coffee out my nose this morning. Given that American Catholics represent something in the neighborhood of 2% of global Catholics, you understand the world is laughing 'at us'? He poses the statement as if somehow being an 'American Catholic' makes us exceptional and distinct in an special way, globally? His same logic leads one to conclude that we can continue to pump disproportionate levels of CO2 into a global atmosphere, and cause the Earth's oceans to absorb that CO2, accelerate the collapse of marine life – yet earn a 'get out of jail free' card because the vast majority of American Catholics align with Bush and Rubio?

I'm so old I can remember when Republicans called the Pope "infallible".

Worldview is a tricky thing when you're five years old ( . . . or, just never grow up).
Do the vast majority of American Catholics align with Rubio and Jeb Bush? (BUSH – I'll say his last name, even if he's got the mainstream media conned into just calling him "Jeb" like a Beverly Hillbilly).
It's a serious question. Any polling out there on how much support Francis has from American Catholics? I haven't seen any, and don't talk about the Pope with traditional Catholics, so I don't know.
I almost think that we social-issue liberals need to start criticizing the Pope on his still-traditional stances against homosexuality, contraception, abortion, female priests, just so the contrarians will kick in and start defending him against us!

Found it – In sum, Pew says that American Catholics overwhelmingly (86%) support Francis, while their support for his global warming encyclicals divide over the usual partisan lines.
Catholic support for Francis may change if he starts spouting the tired old rhetoric about contraception. Catholics have ignored the bishops on that issue for years. But maybe Francis is smart enough not to do that.
And he's not even Jeb – he's John.

Is it possible Jebby is seeking the wrong post? Why squander a billion dollars of rich folks' ill-gotten gains on a run for president of the United States when what he really wants to do is send a candidacy letter to the College of Cardinals declaring his interest in the Papacy when next it becomes open…….
This would be a good time politically for American Catholics to break from Rome and form the Church of America. Friar Carmody, or one of the Koch brothers, could be the American Pope. All fetal life will be cherished, protected, and worshiped. Once you're born, you're on your own, suckers. All fossil fuels will be cherished, protected, and worshiped. Fossil fuel extractors, like the Chairmen of Exxon/Mobil, Shell, the rotating Koch Brothers, will be Cardinals and oversee all fuel extraction enterprises within their geographical area and report up to the Pope on a quarterly basis.
Their will be fuel extraction ceremonies with gigantic bonfires to celebrate our dominion over the earth……….hey, might throw in a few virgins, or Democrats, or democratic socialist Democrats, just to keep the proper burn rate.

Do tech companies bring immigrants in house, have them trained by current f/t employees, then layoff those employees, giving their permanent jobs to temporary visa holders from abroad? Yes they do….all in the name of greater profits for the corporation at the expense of the Middle Class.
Tata Consultancy is one of those firms directly involved in this rush to the lowest common paycheck.
Does a sitting senator, one on the "Gang of Eight" immigration team, have a concern about this practice? Does he relate to the CEO's and shareholders' desire for maximum profits, no matter the practice?
One would think that the agency that hands out H-1B visas might have an interest in knowing that American workers were directly displaced by H-1B recipients, since H1Bs are only supposed to be handed out when American workers aren't available to fill jobs.
It seems Colorado has a real and growing problem on its hands:

Yesterday afternoon a window was shattered on I-25 around 144th. And on Sunday a friend of mine had their window shattered somewhere between Castle Rock and Colorado Springs.
