Wisconsin Rep. Paul D. Ryan (more on the ‘d’ in a moment) has officially been nominated to become the next Speaker of the House. Ryan will take control of the gavel after a formal vote scheduled for Thursday in Washington D.C.

As he embarks on a new stage in his political career, Ryan is also changing his name, for some reason. This is a real story: He will now be known as “Speaker Paul D. Ryan,”

…and he will forevermore be known as “Paulie D.”

  1. Finally a speaker who knows that you gotta GTL to stay max fresh.

Just make sure you pick a majority leader who's always willing to jump on a grenade.

  2. Paul D Ryan received 200 votes in the GOP conference. Daniel Webster got 43 votes. McCarthy and Marsha Blackburn got one each.

It's unclear how many of the Free Dumb Caucus members will stick with Webster when the vote goes to the full House although some are expected to. Won't it be funny if Paulie gets less than 218 votes on the first ballot?  wink
