Woody Returns in Bobblehead Form

  • by: Colorado Pols

BobbleheadBlahaRepublican businessman Robert Blaha is one of 10 candidates actively seeking the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate in 2016, but he is the first of the Republican field to have aired a campaign commercial.

Blahs’s first ad, dubbed “Product Guarantee,” apparently aired last Sunday during the Denver Broncos’ playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. If you missed the ad, you’re not alone — we certainly didn’t catch it on the air — you can watch it after the jump on YouTube. The advertisement is produced by notorious conservative “creative guy” Fred Davis, and it features Blaha talking about his campaign “Product Guarantee” interspersed with images of a bobblehead doll that is supposed to be a likeness of Sen. Michael Bennet.

It’s a cute idea, except the Bennet bobblehead doesn’t much resemble the Democratic Senator. In fact, the bobblehead doll looks much more like Sen. Cory Gardner than it does Bennet (see comparison at right), but there was another face that came to mind and had eluded us all week.

…until now.

Former Republican Gov. Bill Owens (1999-2007) earned the nickname “Woody” because his rather thin frame made him look like the main character from the “Toy Story” movies. The bobblehead doll used in Blaha’s commercial — the one that is supposed to represent Sen. Bennet — looks eerily similar to former Gov. Owens:

Yikes! Good luck trying to sleep tonight with those images in your head. Click after the jump to see Blaha’s original ad…
