UPDATE: The SOS’s office says that there are some incorrect numbers in the county-by-county spreadsheet (the PDF link below) that they are working on fixing as we type. The overall statewide totals printed here are correct.

My wife opened her ballot and saw 6-10 uncontested races, not one choice, looked over at me and said, "this is stupid, why am I wasting the ink in my pen?"
My wife's primary ballot – yes, she's still a registered Democrat – had no contested races. What a waste of money. This makes me question whether state funds should be used for what is a private candidate selection process.
I have never missed an election, even special ones, since missing the Democratic primary in 1968 because I was't sure how to get a ballot at Fort Leonard Wood. But more than once I have voted in utterly meaningly contests just to keep that record intact.
So let's lift a glass to Chuck Norris. Of course, I voted for the redoubltable
Diana DeGette. But once in a while it's worth reminding even the best of our public servants — and, yes,. Diana, you are one of the very best — that these seats belong to the people, not the incumbents.
Chuck, this PBR's for you!
I also hate to miss any election, even a meaningless one. I just hope I can still find mine.
