There is so much breaking news lately on the ever-widening allegations about Russian ties to the Trump campaign that it can be difficult to keep track of everything. With that in mind, we’ve created what we’re calling “The Daily D’oh!” to help you stay up-to-date on President Trump and the rest of the White House staff as more news emerges about Russia, James Comey, Robert Mueller, special investigations and everything else related to this ongoing crisis.
So, let’s jump right into the swamp with the latest news this afternoon…
♦D’OH!♦
As the Washington Post reports:
Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein told the full Senate he knew that former Director James B. Comey would be fired before he wrote his controversial memo that the White House initially used as justification for President Trump firing the FBI director.
♦D’OH!♦
Reuters is reporting today that the Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russian officials:
Michael Flynn and other advisers to Donald Trump’s campaign were in contact with Russian officials and others with Kremlin ties in at least 18 calls and emails during the last seven months of the 2016 presidential race, current and former U.S. officials familiar with the exchanges told Reuters.
The previously undisclosed interactions form part of the record now being reviewed by FBI and congressional investigators probing Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election and contacts between Trump’s campaign and Russia.
♦D’OH!♦
As the New York Times reports, the Trump transition team already knew that Michael Flynn was under investigation before he came to the White House…but hired him anyway to become National Security Adviser.
♦D’OH!♦
South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham believes the stakes have been raised in this investigation. From CNN:
Sen. Lindsey Graham said Thursday he believes the Justice Department’s Russia probe is “now considered a criminal investigation,” comments he made following the all-senators’ briefing with deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
The South Carolina Republican said he wasn’t able to ask specifically if it was now a criminal probe “but the takeaway have is everything he said was that you need to treat this investigation as if it may a criminal investigation”.
Rosenstein briefed the US Senate just one day after he turned the political world on its head by appointing a special counsel to investigate possible collusion between the campaign of President Donald Trump and Russian officials meddling in last year’s election.

Anybody seen Vice President Mike Pence lately? CNN ponders the idea that Pence has all but disappeared over the last 48 hours.

Pence is working on his inaugural speech.
How long before a gifted graphics artist puts the P on top and turns the T upside down? Something akin to a distress signal.
Infantile…
You did catch the part where Pence formed his PAC today? Earliest ever in history for a VP. TwoScoops is going to need a flotilla of taste testers.
Or maybe Pence is lawyering up. Here's a twist from Mike Littwin that may have Paul Ryan practicing the Oath of Office in the bathtub:
If Nixon had a cancer on his administration, Trump has an outbreak of Ebola on his.
Pence is as dirty as any of them. I wonder if Paul Ryan is ready?
He's dirty too.
Of course, it's called having a "bench" . . .
I said it on another thread yesterday and I'll say it again: if I had to have one of the top four Repubs in the constitutional pecking order, I'd go with Orin Hatch. Which is not saying much….
I said it yesterday, too, R&R. I'm with you on Hatch. He's probably the best of a bad lot. I just wish he weren't so old.
R & R: guess you haven't been reading the lies Hatch has been spreading about Obama's "land grab" in Utah, meaning Bears Ears National Monument. Like: "President Obama issued the declaration with no open debate, no public hearing, no vote in Congress." Guess former DOI Secretary Jewell's visit to Bluff for a public hearing last summer, with over 1,000 attendees, doesn't exist in Hatch's mind. You can find more on the web site of High Country News.
I used to like Hatch, But at age 83, he seems to have a lost a lot of reasoning ability, unlike John McCain who is almost that age. Hatch should retire next year instead of running for re-election.
I said the same thing yesterday. Pence has to be in on Trump's dirty deals. What the Yam knows about government could be dropped painlessly into his eye. With the exception of the xenophobic crap, all of the policies the Yam has signed edicts for were on Pence's wish list. Most notable the anti-LGBT stuff.
D'OH
Everybody on the planet knew Hillary Clinton was under investigation when the DNC named her a presidential candidate….
Is this like the Twilight Zone or something?
You really don't want to talk about the possible impeachment of Donald Trump, do you?
You may not have noticed, stuck in your little anti-HRC bubble, but it's been a year since HRC was nominated, the election has been over for 6 months, and the FBI investigation found no evidence of criminality on HRC's part 6 months ago.
Meanwhile, the guy you voted for, who won the election while losing the popular vote, has compiled an impressive list of impeachable "high crimes and misdemeanors".
At least three serious, evidence-backed ones at latest count. That's not even counting the nepotism and the obvious conflicts of interest, the unconstitutional executive orders, and all of the rest .
Yet somehow, you keep trying to steer the discussion around to HRC's emails. Why is that?
and the FBI investigation found no evidence of criminality on HRC's part 6 months ago – See more at: http://www.coloradopols.com/diary/95017/introducing-the-daily-doh#sthash.GNiBCpNv.dpuf
And for good measure, they reopened their investigation of her 10 days before the election and subsequently found no evidence of criminality. Again.
No criminality, lets see what the new Special Council will have to say about that.
Special Council? Are they investigating Hillary's ties to Roger Ailes death?
Yep..not likely Mueller will have anything to say about HRC.
What PeePee doesn't get is that The Yamboy is doing more for progressives than HRC could or would ever do. PeePees' ad hominem about me in the "the end is near" thread indicates clearly that he never reads what I actually say or is too intellectually feeble to understand the words.
He gets very little right in his comprehension of what others say. Must be some sort of learning disability.
I thought perhaps PeePee dreamt that TwoScoops™ had ordered the creation of a death panel (masquerading as a 'special;coun
selcil).Like all other old, white Trumpsters across Merrika, he's still fantasizing over a Hillary execution. If only Roger Ailes had lived long enough to have provided the news coverage for the special council's important work.
(R
IP, Roger. You're finally reunited with your soul that you sold to you-know-who long ago).Listen to the demons
Chuckle and yell.
Cutting Ailes' hands off
Down in hell.
Yeah, yeah I do. Its been a year since this whole Russian thing went down and still don't see evidence of Russian collusion.
I am not certain, but I cannot ever recall a time in the history of American politics that winning the popular vote determined the winner of the election.
The only difference between Trumps impeachable "high crimes and misdemeanors" and Hillary's is that you can't impeach a person if she is not president.
Lets look at these 3 serious, evidenced backed crimes and compare:
Evidence of a cover up: No concrete proof of criminal conduct but evidence of cover up "continues to mount"…. hmm… Bleachbit.
Obstruction of Justice: If Comey saw an effort to obstruct justice he is required by law to report it immediately, which he did not. That means either Comey is in on it or it did not happen….. hmm… Tarmac meeting
Mishandling/Revealing Highly Classified Material: Seriously? Classified info on a laptop of a pervert facing pedophilia charges. C'mon.
So, if justice is blind, or at least consistent, there is very little hope of the guy I voted for getting impeached for the same crimes that his opponent was cleared of.
It would just be nice to have Trump accused of something that Hillary was not already exonerated for. That's all.
I don't recall that Hillary ever grabbed a woman's pussy without her consent, Negev!
True dat. Thanks for adding the *consent* caveat it may dispel the rumors. I did not see that on the "crimes and misdemeanor" list, but her husband has already set case law on that one as well…
D'OH yourself. Trump was the subjective of a couple hundred lawsuits from contractors, resulting from his poor business practices, at the time he was elected. And then he paid out hush money to make Trump University go away.
Sorry, but Hillary didn't win the election and is now a non-factor. I've already advised you that if you voted for Trump, you now OWN him, warts, shortcomings, and all. Just deal with it.
Yep! The left's echo chamber is a strange place…
