Snarling CO usual suspects vow to oppose Sotomayor, embarrass selves

(Not exactly the cream of the crop here for the GOP. – promoted by Colorado Pols)

This just in from the Colorado Springs Gazette.

State conservatives mobilize anti-Sotomayor effort

A conservative coalition has formed in Colorado to oppose President Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court, arguing that the New York judge is a judicial activist who puts her “personal political agenda” above the rule of law.

“Sonia Sotomayor’s statement that a ‘wise Latina woman’ would generally make better decisions because of ‘the richness of her experiences’ than a white male reveals the extent to which political and personal agendas have supplanted the rule of law in selecting nominees,” former State Treasurer Mark Hillman said in a press release announcing the coalition. “Rule of law requires that laws be written, accessible, understandable and uniformly applied.”

…Other organizers of the Colorado anti-Sotomayor effort include John Andrews, former president of the state Senate; Jon Caldara, president of the Independence Institute, a conservative Colorado think tank; and Jeff Crank, state director of Americans for Prosperity.

No word yet on whether Tom Tancredo will be joining the anti-Sotomayor festivities, but you might say he already has. At any rate, the crack team of Hillman, Andrews and Jon “Bitch Slap” Caldara should be able to give Sotomayor the exposure she so richly deserves – and send any sane Republicans left over from the Tancredo disaster scurrying for the exits.

  1. with John Andrews (White Male), Mark Hillman (White Male), John Caldera (White Male), and Jeff Crank (White Male)…

Not that they ever let their White Maleness interfere with their political choices.

    1. John Andrews–presiding over the decline of the Colorado GOP.  And now this, everyone knows Sotomayor will be confirmed–today she was endorsed by the top names in national law enforcement organizations…

Thus, the ‘has been’ team is jumping late on a losing issue, one that will further alienate them from everyone but the declining wingnut base.

      Andrews:

Criticize Obama and you’re a racist. Warn about illegal immigration and you’re a bigot. Sometimes they use laws. Diana DeGette muzzled free speech outside abortion clinics. Now the Federal Communications Commission has talk radio in its sights.

How about opposing seatbelt ads in Spanish–racist or idiot, or idiotic racist?

The Know-Nothings LOVE them some John Andrews…

We at CAIR share this concern and believe our effectiveness is in educating others about the consequences of inordinately high levels of legal and illegal immigration, and in working with elected officials to enact legislation to address this pressing issue.

Pre-Natal care for brown skinned people?  CAIR wants to end that too.

The amendment allows police officers to accept non-secure foreign ID cards. In addition, it allows for pregnant mothers and presumably those who simply claim they are pregnant to obtain a full range of services over and above free medical services with non-secure foreign ID cards.

And how does Mr. Andrews view his band of washed-up old white guys jumping on a losing issue to reflexively oppose a well-qualified nominee to the SCOTUS (who happens to be a member of the fatest growing demographic in the nation and state, viewed favorably by none other than Laura Bush?

On kitchen-table issues like jobs and roads, the incumbents have little to boast of. Change is now our issue.

  2. What do they get out of this?  They aren’t going to prevent Sotomayor from being confirmed.  This will not improve their standing with the groups they need to appeal to in order to start winning again.  Do they just like the experience of public failure?

    1. None of those 3 will ever run for anything (again in 2 cases). None of them is focused on the GOP being successful. What all 3 are focused on is the same thing as Rush, Hannity, etc – that they feed the base red meat so they keep getting financial support from that base.

The GOP winning would actually be bad for them financially.

            1. They just haven’t learned that these battles are losers for them now. It wasn’t long ago that they were winners…

I say, keep on keepin’s on fellas. The more they do this, the more marginalized they become.

  3. i

allows for pregnant mothers and presumably those who simply claim they are pregnant to obtain a full range of services over and above free medical services with non-secure foreign ID cards.

How the hell does a woman get medical services by claiming to be pregnant when she is not? Pregnancy is not a figment of the imagination.   Only men who have never even been close to women would make such an bizarre statement…

I would presume that this would be an example of a wise Latina woman making a better decision that one of these white males….
