Every revolution is different but this strikes me as being much like our American Revolution where a number of the leaders in society are leading the effort and what they want is a change in the process, but not a radical change of the entire system.
Two biggest pieces of news today HuffPo
The Basij have now begun to cover their faces, whereas previously they hadn’t. This indicates they are becoming more scared of retaliation from the general public. Also, we have heard that cell phone service is cut off at night. There have been efforts to identify members of the Basij who have used violence against demonstrators, through facebook and other social networking websites.
It’s interesting to see some in the feared militias themselves becoming afraid of retaliation.
According to a member of Iran’s parliament quoted in the piece, a verbal scuffle — and then a physical altercation — broke out yesterday when several MPs questioned why more wasn’t being done to stop the attacks by the plainclothes paramilitary Basiji.
Don’t just sit there – do something. Email Barron X to make this Saturday happen.

or maybe I ought to be committed; not sure which.
But there is GOING TO BE some sort of solidarity demonstration this weekend.!!!
I have been in touch with the permit office at the state Capitol. . They require 30 days advance notice. Maybe they will grant an exception.
I’ve asked Korbel School of International whatever to consider furnishing speakers. Hard to imagine me speaking about Iran, what with my almost total ignorance.
Please email me (see below) any info you have on Iranian groups with a local presence.
And volunteers or suggestions are welcome.
Hey, you community organizers:
do I need to arrange for security or emergency medical support or drinking water or anything else ?
Help a brother out. I really don’t know what I’m doing.
Its either Saturday or Sunday. One person (think it was RSB) said Saturday was better. Appreciate any feedback on that.
I want this to come across as the American people showing love for the Iranian people, so reluctant to put politicians in charge. But if some politician is willing to make this happen, take charge and start issing orders, I will gladly come work for you for a couple of days to make this as successful as possible.
This stuff in Iran could turn out OK. It could go badly. I think its the duty of us blessed to be American to do what we can. I fear that there may not be anything to show solidarity with if we wait until next weekend.
any and all suggestions and help are welcome and appreciated. I am about to go across the street to Square State to post a similar appeal.
As a supposed conservative, I have no connection to conservative blogs. help or suggestions in that regard especially needed. With my partisan blinders on, I just know this will resonate with conservatives. At least I sure hope so.

David, I’m trying to hijack your diary. Thanks for getting it started.

from Andrew Sullivan
We’ve all asked what will happen when the MSM disappears? Well we’re in the biggest story of the year (so far) right now and the MSM has been mostly shut out. So we’re seeing this new world.
Seems to work pretty well. Plus we lose the vacuous statements that come with MSM video broadcasts.
ps – Kudos to CNN who is now giving this story the effort it deserves on cnn.com.
