The Colorado affiliate of the national Constitution Party is considering changing their name
from
“American Constitution Party”
to
“Constitution Party of Colorado.”
I figure that a lot of voters weren’t sure if they were the same party last election, and I probably lost 20 or 30 votes over that inconsistency.

The party held a meeting Saturday, 11 July, to elect a new executive committee for the term of 2009-2011.
Members returned two officers to their posts, and selected three new officers that campaigned on a vision of enticing true conservatives away from the GOP wing of the one major Demoblican / Republicrat Party.
We are very excited about the Obama Administration, which has continued and even accelerated the trends started by Bush:
more socialism, more fascism and less Constitutional governance (c.f., Amendment #10.) With the GOP wing of the one big party nearly completely repudiating the principles the nation was founded on, we believe this is our best shot ever. That is, if there really are 30 – 40% conservatives out there, if they haven’t given up.
If any of you progressives would like to help demolish the GOP and dance on its grave, consider a modest donation to www.AmericanConstitutionParty.com.

Nothing to announce yet.
If the party is at the point of a transition from the old guard that founded the party in 1992, when a major theme was reducing taxes, to a bunch of “Young Turks” who fear the departures from the Constitution could end the Republic,
there may be an entirely new slate of candidates, consisting of people who haven’t even joined the Party yet.
The contest to be the Party’s candidate happens next May at the Convention, for most offices statewide.
There are only a couple of counties with parties large enough to hold their own conventions.
NOTE TO CONSERVATIVES:
regardless of your current party affiliation, if you feel called to step out and make a difference, email me or contact the party through the website.
.
But don’t you think that you or another member of your state political party ought to register the URL domain name for something that sounds like the party’s new name before someone else grabs them from you? It’s only $15 or so bucks, Barron.
And, on another topic, since you’re interested in Somalia and Africa, a very disturbing New York Times article about Somali Americans answering the call to jihad back home:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07…
.
Its obvious to most folks who post here, but it never occurred to me.
I’ll get right on that.
Thanks also for telling me about the article in the Times. I haven’t read it yet, but will tomorrow.
.
I thought that your party had changed its name from the American Constitution Party; I was trying to jibe that with your donation request to the American Constitution Party via its web site.
Still, securing the domain name is a good thing to do if you think it will be a done deal.
items on the Internet that I have ever seen.
.
There are only 1,700 or so registered party members. Fewer than 50 attended that meeting. Just a guess, but I think fewer than 60,000 individual voters cast votes for party candidates statewide in 2008.
I think that the party is ripe for a hostile takeover bid.
The party is still mostly run by folks who you might associate with the John Birch Society. But 100 committed conservatives of a more moderate bent could take over if they got organized. And this is a party with ballot access.
For anybody who found the Ron Paul candidacy interesting, this is a rare opportunity to really have an impact.
