Bennet Raises $1.2 Million In Q2

From Bennet For Colorado:

Denver, CO — Bennet for Colorado announced an impressive second quarter fundraising total of more than $1.2 million on Wednesday, July 15.

The successful second quarter total pushes the amount of cash on hand held by the campaign to more than $2.2 mllion. [rsb emphasis]  To date, the campaign has raised more than $2.6 million in just five months.

“We continue to be thrilled with the support Michael is receiving on this campaign,” said Campaign Manager Craig Hughes.  “This strong second quarter is further evidence that people are responding positively to the work Michael is doing fighting for Colorado’s families.  Michael might not be a typical politician, but he is using his unique blend of public and private sector experience to provide real solutions for Colorado during these challenging times.”

Despite being hampered with criticism from Democratic activists since his appointment in December, Michael Bennet has put up some serious fundraising numbers. If the first round of numbers wasn’t enough to put a chill down the spines of Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier and Weld Co. District Attorney Ken Buck, that $2.2 Million cash on hand figure has to have them shivering.

      1. I’m not some empty ethnic stereotype……I know things!  I do recall, however, that some learned poster on this site had ascribed to Bennet a wealth of Harvard friends (cuz he went to skool there, but didn’t).  I wanted to show solidarity with that poor soul.

  1. Neither Frazier or Buck have caught fire with the GOP base and they’re not pulling in much money. The party may take a pass if Bennet keeps raising this kind of money.

And that puts the focus totally on Ritter for statewide.

  2. to take that, blue, down arrow away from Bennets name on the big line (fundraising has been great and insider dems seem to be forgeting/forgiving that one Foreclosure amendment vote blunder). Give Don Maes a 50-1 shot. Cleve may be a bit low, maybe 40-1 instead of 20-1. Ritter, as the incumbent should atleast be 10-1 (11-1 is a bit of a stretch I think).

Att. Gen. Line-When does Don make up his mind? The dems do have Carroll waiting to see. It would be a shame if the dems do not run seriously for this seat. If the economy improves Ritter, Bennet and almost anyone with a D next to the name probably wins this seat too.

Stapleton due to the fundraising maybe 9-1 improvement from 10-1.

CD4-remove red arrows from the R’s. Gardner seems to be raising big bucks while Lucero does not deserve the UP arrow. Keep blue UP arrow next to Markey. Very impressive.

      1. could win. Don may be able to raise alittle more money than Morgan (or maybe not), but Morgan has much more campaign experience than Don. Don had one contested primary for DA in Adams. That’s about it. Morgan has been in the trenches and would probably be one heck of a candidate for Att. Gen. She would work hard and win. She has guts too. Would be very appealing to unaffiliated’s against Suthers because she has a reputation of NOT toeing the party line on some issues and going with the more moderate/populist direction. Both Morgan and Don would be great. Don’s integrity and professionalism is extraordinary.

Morgan Carroll would receive lots of Labor support. Especially now as Ritter may not be receiving as much help from labor so they may have more help to spread around to other races that in a different climate may have exhausted much of their support at the top of the ticket.

  3. Bennet is the pick of BMC…just like he was the pick of BMD….the money is not a tribute to Bennet’s skills….it is an investment to keep a conservative, pretty, well spoken man who can charm the democratic base and do the work of BMC in the Senate…….IMHO.

If it were not for the necessity of keeping the dems in control in the US Senate, I would work hard to do to Bennet what he did to the kids at Manuel in 2006…..drop kick right out of the system.

    1. Do you know any grassroots Dems who are charmed?  I sure don’t.  Not that it matters in the face of that kind of support from the big money crowd.

      1. IMHO, the democratic base dances with the real guys…ie Mike Miles and much earlier, Gene Nicols, but goes home with the money guy…….that is what I should have said ….Bennet is the money guy.

      2. Do you know what Bennet is going to accomplish in the Senate? Do you know how he’s going to vote? I sure don’t. I’m guessing he’s not sure himself.

I think a lot of us are waiting to see how he shakes out. So we react to what he does to try and influence his direction, but we just don’t know yet.

  4. …honestly, Michael Bennet is gonna need all the money he can get

What Ryan Frazier and Ken Buck both have that Bennet doesn’t is that they have, ACTUALLY, ran for office, knocked on doors, and most likely, been yelled at in a PTA meeting

Point is – money can’t buy experience (take it from me)

Bennet’s gonna need all the money he can get

    1. he should start knocking doors now. Maybe he’ll be able to reach 2% of the state’s households by next November.

      (You should totally run statewide.)

      1. See, there is a “community coordinator” or some such who monitors all “community meetings”…..citizens are “allowed” to speak, but there is never a response from anyone…not the Board and not the Superintendent….the highly paid community coordinator “handles” all citizens who might be outspoken….and security is tight.

It is a strange Kabui dance…..sometimes the students are allowed to wear T-shirts which say “save our school”….but that is about it……the kids from Manuel were up in the lunchroom watching the public proceedings when it came time for Manuel discussion, the kids were also scheduled to speak, I think….they were coming down in the elevator when

the board voted to close their school back in 2006.  They came into the Board room and didn’t even realize what had happened.  DPS Board does not fool around with parent input. People look crosswise and their school gets closed..or so coventional wisdom has it.

        You should come watch sometime.

On a technical note:  Do I still have to keep the tin foil on my tv antenna?? :))

    2. I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you that he’s not proven as a “boots on the ground” pol, but money is key in a statewide race.

The fact of the matter is that Bennet has a lot of it, and his two main opponents do not. Barring some sort of implosion between now and next November, I think Bennet wins this one.

      1. David – true – I’ll stand corrected on that point

RSB – yes, money helps, but I still think Bennet is the most vulnerable Dem in the nation – plus, Republicans can’t sleep forever – money will come to our candidates – I think part of the reason why we aren’t seeing it right now is because people still anticipate the drop-in of one more GOP candidate, potentially
