Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rep. Jared Polis released a very long list of endorsements today (after the jump) of Colorado Democrats backing his campaign, including former Congresswoman Betsy Markey and most of the state’s legislative leadership from the area Polis represents in Congress. It’s a strong show of support for Polis ahead of tomorrow’s entry of Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne into the race, and also helps pinpoint where Polis can expect to run strongly in the Democratic primary–urbanizing communities along the northern Front Range adversely affected by oil and gas development, many of which are in Polis’ congressional district.
This list is illustrative of the difficulty not just Lynne but all of the Democratic primary candidates are going to have catching up with Polis, whose vast financial resources and solid base of support among environmentally-minded Democrats have cemented his status as the Democratic frontrunner following the departure of Rep. Ed Perlmutter from the race. In fact it’s a fair statement to say that Lynne’s expected entry tomorrow into the gubernatorial primary is a problem for every Democratic candidate except Polis, who is already well on the way to owning the field.

Missing: KC Becker (who's from Polis' district), current House Majority Leader
Joe Neguse (who's running for Polis' seat and is from his district)
Crisanta Duran, current Speaker of the House
Jessie Danielson, Speaker Pro Tem
Former state Sen. Rollie Heath (who's from his district)
Former state Sen. Ron Tupa (who's from his district)
I'd say there's some major leadership names missing from this list.
I was going to make a crack about just linking to the list of endorsements on his campaign website rather than listing them all here, until I realized that there apparently isn't one. Just whatever mess this is. Keep doing you, Pols, I'll keep the snark dry for a better opportunity.
Hey Pols. You mis-spelled Jeni Arndt's last name.
Environmental radical, social issue extremist. Colorado Pols will love Gov. Jared!
I didn't know that support for clean air, clean water; and protection of public lands; makes one an "environmental radical." If that is true, sign me up. Common sense conservatives want all that.
How is Polis a social issue extremist? I thought the extremists are those who want to control female bodies through banning of abortion and contraception? Or those who deny the 14th Amendment's support of equal rights?
C'mon Moderatus. Enlighten us.
Polis has a husband and children and doesn’t want a fracking operation within rock-throwing distance of his kids. That's what makes Moddy crazy.
Moldy as a brainless shill for the authoritarian right, you have no business calling anybody an extremist.
Actually, I find this quite disappointing. There are a number of ways that Jared Polis is out of step with the Democratic party. He is perhaps last on my list of desirable governor candidates.
In particular, Polis has a number of votes/cosponsorships on undoing current gun laws. No surprise then to see pro-gunners Sal Pace and Buffie McFayden lined up in his court.
Unfortunately, all I see that Polis brings to the table is money, the factor that chased away a far better candidate Ed Perlmutter.
As a not-exactly impartial observer, I can suggest one reason for Jared already doing so well — he knows what he's doing. He handles social media like that Elway chap used to handle a football. And he's on the ball in real life too. Last weekend he walked in the State Fair parade Sunday morning, drove to Lamar (120 miles) for an afternoon meeting, then drove to Alamosa (3+ hours) for an evening meeting, and went home to march in a parade in either Louisville or Longmont, I forget, on Monday.
I'm not just a mother, I'm a grandmother, and *I* endorse him too! 🙂
I'll call your grandparent status and raise you Cary Kennedy.
Cary is also an excellent candidate. 🙂 Actually, as Dems we are very much spoilt for choice, and not just in this race. #benchdeeperthanthemarianastrench
I support Jared.
