Ritter: "Ready, Fire, Aim!" On Mercury Storage

  • by: TaxCheatGeithner

Apparently our esteemed Governor finally decided to contact the Administration about his opposition to storing mercury in Colorado today.

Playing the part of “vulnerable politician” to a T, Ritter was sure to make raising money from the one constituency who still supports him (radical environmentalists) his FIRST priority.

That’s leadership for you.  Turn an issue in to a red herring, send out a fundraising letter, then take official action on behalf of the state.  It’s pretty to easy to see where his priorities lie right now. He’s (understandably) worried.

  1. 1) Asking the Secretary of Energy why they can’t just store the mercury in Tennessee, even though it would be illegal to do so–all the while skipping the DOE meeting to do a fundraiser in Greeley.

    2) “What Steve King said”.

Besides TCG, if anyone has something to worry about it’s the man you shill for here: 20% name ID is pitiful.

  2. spouted off before he got the talking points:

The U.S. Energy Department’s proposal to store mercury in Mesa County has united Gov. Bill Ritter and two leading contenders for Ritter’s job.

In a letter he sent to Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Wednesday, Ritter described the proposal to dispose of the federal government’s stores of mercury as “deeply flawed.”

Two Grand Junction Republicans who want to take on Ritter in the November 2010 general election, Scott McInnis and Josh Penry, agreed.

The proposal to store mercury in Mesa County “has been met with a bipartisan thud,” Penry said. “I hope the Obama administration will pull the plug. We’re not interested in their mercury stimulus.”

McInnis, according to his spokesman, Sean Duffy, “looks forward to seeing the specific results that will come from (Ritter’s) letter. An equally aggressive approach to the continuing economic and jobs problems on the Western Slope would certainly be welcome.”

Is Kathy Hall a radical environmentalist?
