Poll: Who Will Be Our Next Two Front Page Guest Editors?

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

FINAL RESULTS: Congratulations to Middle of the Road and Danny the Red (hair), your new front page guest editors for the 1st half of 2010.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this poll–honestly, that is. For the record we did not, after spending considerable time looking, find any evidence of tampering beyond the incident discussed below: everybody else is in the clear as far as we’re concerned. It appears that at least one candidate did reach out to friends, asking them to register accounts and vote. We feel this is permissible, since anyone may create a (single, legitimate) account at any time.

That said, it’s been suggested to us today that a slot on our front page might be a little too valuable to entrust its determination to an easily-rigged poll. Watch for a more secure solution next summer, original post follows.

This poll (after the jump) is an election for two new front-page guest editors at Colorado Pols. The new editors will start January 1st, and barring anything unexpected will hold their position until June of 2010–at which time we’ll hold another election. Remember, there’s only one poll of nominees, and the top two finishers from that poll will win the coveted front page editor spots.

Good luck to nominees, we’ll call voting complete this evening–let’s say 7PM for a cutoff, though it’s certainly possible the races will be settled long before then.

UPDATE: Multiple new accounts have been registered in the last few hours. A large number of them have been traced back to one of the candidates for this election. The user “triguardian” has been banned from Colorado Pols, and is disqualified (obviously) from this election. We are closely monitoring new accounts today as we have during prior elections, please don’t bother trying this.

We are not halting the poll, votes cast for other candidates are unaffected.

For posterity, final results at 7PM close:

* Middle of the Road – 28 votes (17.18%)

* Danny the Red (hair) – 26 votes (15.95%)

* JO – 23 votes (14.11%)

* triguardian – 19 votes (11.66%)
