“Who was it that tolerated a Klansman in the United States Senate? It was the Democrat Party and the NAACP. You know why? ‘Cause he was all for government-run health care.”

on the oxycontin…
single payer (gubmint-run) Health care was first suggested by a REPUBLICAN… Theodore Roosevelt. not taken up by Democrats for another 30 years.
was actually a former Klansman, having quit decades ago and, according to real Klansmen, was never much of one in the first place.
There are no current Klansmen being tolerated by the Dem party today. Aside from Byrd, almost all of the Dixiecrats became Republicans because they were so opposed to civil rights and desegregation. The party now happily uses bigotry to get out the base with a big assist from you know who.
given the credence of publishing his comments anywhere?
Like Jams. Oh wait…
Nothing.
People are in “You suck. No YOU suck” mode for the next 18 days.
HUG!
The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on productive salesmanship.
Little Sally led off: “I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30,” she said proudly, “My sales approach was to appeal to the customer’s civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success.”
“Very good,” said the teacher.
Little Jenny was next:
“I sold magazines,” she said, “I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events.”
“Very good, Jenny,” said the teacher..
Eventually, it was Little Johnny’s turn.
The teacher held her breath …
Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher’s desk. “$2,467,” he said.
“$2,467!” cried the teacher, “What in the world were you selling?”
“Toothbrushes,” said Little Johnny.
“Toothbrushes!” echoed the teacher, “How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?”
“I found the busiest corner in town,” said Little Johnny, “I set up a Dip & Chip stand and gave everybody who walked by a free sample.”
They all said the same thing, “Hey, this tastes like dog poop!”
Then I would say,”It is dog poop. Wanna buy a toothbrush?”
“I used the government’s strategy of giving you something crappy for free, and then making you pay to get that taste out of your mouth.”
Rush has not allowed the fact that the Sherrod tape showed the opposite of racism to lead him to join O’Reilly of Fox in admitting the Sherrod story was blatantly false. He knows which side his bread is buttered on: the crazy town side.

It mentions Bennet’s part in this but really goes after Chris Roemer.
Given how he has paid people to attack Sen. Bennet while they claim it is “immaterial” to disclose that they’re being paid?
But it doesn’t change the basic issue – with Bennet we’ll get more of the same, with Romanoff we could see improvement.
And there’s a positive side to this – shows Romanoff is not a choirboy. If he’s going to effect some change, he’s going to have to be willing to fight with every tool possible.
Did you write that with a straight face? The use of paid attack sock puppets is simply showing he’s not a choirboy? And that he’ll fight with every tool possible, regardless of the consequences, rather like he’s doing in his campaign, even when those tools are underhanded and unethical, is a positive thing? Really?
As to paid sockpuppets, I think we’re going to find that in this election it’s a common practice. I don’t like it, but I wouldn’t call it unethical.
AR is more likely to …. I have no idea.
If he were to win, he would be faced with a strange and difficult choice. Either he could legislate like he’s run, a seriously left progressive – single payor, Senate obstructionism whenever a a good bill doesn’t go far enough, etc.
Or
He can legislate like he did before- practical and moderate.
Special session to avoid a a worse legislative outcome. Etc
He says “actions are more telling than words”.
Meanwhile, in a purple state, Bennet is more likely to be able to spread his wings a little more in a full term with an actual electoral win.
This article is more than interesting. Huge ramifications for all Coloradoans.
Care to proffer a diary?
(BTW thanks for yesterday’s live blog coverage of the candidates.)
And I voted for Bennet. When Romanoff announced he was running, I was very excited and sent him money. However, he lost my vote when he said he would have voted against the health care bill. First, I do not want a Senator who values perfection over improvement. I have family members who don’t have health insurance, and he was willing to throw them under the bus because the bill wasn’t perfect.
Second, I don’t believe him when he says he’s going to make Washington do things differently. He wasn’t an iconoclast in the state House, and I don’t believe he’ll be one in the Senate.
Third, I also don’t believe that he’d be more progressive than Bennet. Again, he was a moderate Democrat in the state House, and I believe that’s exactly what he would be in the Senate, too.
Fourth, I trust Barack Obama a lot more than I trust David Sirota and StrykerK2! Romanoff’s supporters here only reinforced my decision to vote against him.
I realize that I’m not pointing out Bennet’s positives. That’s because I don’t perceive much difference between the two candidates, and because Romanoff had my vote initially, but he lost it all by himself.
Finally, I have always liked and respected Andrew Romanoff. If he wins the primary, I will do whatever I can to help him get elected, and I am confident that either of these men will represent me well in the Senate. If Romanoff loses the primary, I hope he will run for office in the future, but I hope he picks his race, his staff, and his sock puppets more carefully!
My vote was in the mail yesterday.
working over at HQ…. so that/s 7+ a bunch more.
No need for any other Bennet supporters to vote…
when AR was on Caplis and Silverman counting the two Australians that voted for him .
You have made your “no outing” rule very clear. I would assume listing family names and address qualifies.
http://coloradopols.com/diary/…
http://coloradopols.com/showCo…
I had assumed that the names and the address were bogus. Was that partially real?
without going into all the details, as that would make my actual name very clear, suffice to say there is enough truth in what V says for someone to make the connection.
Voy listed an obviously fake name (“Waldo StrykerK2”) at a fake address (it doesn’t exist, per Google Maps), and this is supposed to be an outing? I suppose there might be some secret way it references your identity (anagram? a similar street name? dunno) — but anyone who doesn’t know you would have no clue what this means about who you might be.
I’m not a fan of outing, but I’m not a fan of what sounds like a bullshit whine about outing that StrykerK2 is using for tactical reasons b/c Voy was disagreeing with him (and maybe mocking him, but that’s fair game too).
instead of someone concerned about being outed. Otherwise Stryker would have thought of e-mailing days ago when it took place.
if someone already knows you pretty well they would recognize it.
But if they don’t know you, it will be meaningless.
It’s like someone asking me if I am a modern dancer.
or something.
Or at the minimum, start a collection pool.
look- there is no bad money.
And you might the first time.
I remain somewhat unconvinced that this is a good investment.
the cheapest diet you’ll ever find that does not require vomiting.
Unless your mom actually is named Jasmine StrykerK2, that was an obvious joke!
IF he can show us checks from the Romanoff campaign are payable to “StrykerK2”, I mean.
Unless your mom actually is named Jasmine StrykerK2, that was an obvious joke!
Not an uncommmon reaction.
… is Waldo Jasmine Harvey. Whoops, I’m a Bennet supporter who outed someone, so you Romanoff folks better start making bullshit efforts to expel me!
Doh!! I a Bennet supporter and I just outed myself.
Even worse, my daughter’s name is “Scheherazade.” Poor thing.
You’re just trying to obfuscate now.
“obpuscate,” don’t you? Don’t get all Shakespearean on us now…. 🙂
Gesundheit!
Continuing education — another reason Coloradopols is more widely read than any other political blog in Colorado.
Are those their real first names and address? Or was it equivalent to claiming that their names were Homer and Marge Simpson of 742 Evergreen Terrace? Google Maps doesn’t show that the address exists. I think “outing” only counts if they reveal real information. So if those were joke names, don’t get your panties in a bunch.
I propose the following:
StrykerK2 e-mails ColoradoPols with details showing how close Voyageur was to outing him/her.
If Voyageur really was all that close – and I’m suspecting not, based on the complete lack of hits brought up by Google Maps, then the Dead Guvs can make the appropriate call.
If StrykerK2 is making false claims, then I suggest he/she be banned instead for trying to get Voyageur banned without good reason.
…what would we do for fun if Stryker was not here?
This is really serious. Could this happen here?

It’s never very likely, but people make mistakes.
Lost Cat
Thanks for posting. Why the hell is the cat wearing a red hat in the last photo? Good to remember not take ourselves so seriously sometimes.
Why did you delete your (hilarious) “Tom Tancredo, a Statesman” diary shortly after my comments criticizing Tancredo?
People are jumping ship.
But basically, neither McInnis or Maes is going to drop out, and even if they both did there’s no way that the vacancy committee would appoint Tancredo after his ultimatum. So one of them will win the Republican nomination and a good number of people will support the Republican nominee. Tancredo is a one trick pony (illegal immigration). Other than that he is a big government guy (supported TARP, etc.). Based on the facebook chatter, Tancredo won’t be able to attract enough support for any serious bid, and will just end up looking stupid.
Both don’t have to withdraw.
One will lose- and be out
Then the winning loser will be the only withdrawal needed.
Nothing Tancredo does is going to result with ending up looking stupid. He already looks stupid most of the time. Detonating the R candidate doesn’t change that for better or worse.
… b/c as I often do, I spent a few minutes Googling facts before I posted those comments, and now that work is lost.
I mean, it isn’t the greatest annoyance I’ve ever suffered, but whereas I used to think badly of only L’s intellect, I now think badly of his manners too.
All I see when I go to a diary is “edit diary”.
then scroll down…
.
That’s exactly why I never bother with facts.

DWad promises not to sue.
http://www.coloradopols.com/di…
If you can’t trust the Wadster, who can you trust?
.
That’s what their attorney indicated at 9:30 AM this morning.
Wadhams was dictating a press release to a staffer on this matter at 9:45 AM, and the staffer couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
At around 10 AM, Wadhams called the reporter back and said he had been misunderstood.
.
What would they have sued Tom for ? For not staying inside the lines ? Sounds like East Germany.
Of course I trust Dick. That’s why I pay to belong to the ACP.
Thanks for linking. Now if I can just get a “Recommend.” Should I change the Diary Title ?
.
My pleasure Barron.
No problem with the title.
I might have gone with “Curiouser and Curioser“
from Seth Godin
Daniel Shore passed away. Oh, that’s a loss.
what a fucking OUTSTANDING Journalist. I would die a happy man knowing I was on the Nixon’s enemies list.
And he got up on stage with Frank Zappa and sang “it Ain’t Necessarily So.” What else do you have to do in a life?
(not the snarky sentiment).
(not the snarky sentiment).
I’ve listened to him on NPR for years and am going to miss his input beyond belief.
Even as commentator on NPR in the past few years his voice was still the quintessential radio personality voice. 93?
had a great tribute to him on today’s Weekend Edition.
I was probably projecting.
I agree with your words and your sentiment.
No worries. No apology necessary.
Is there a poll on Pols re: WHO the Republican candidate governor will be by August 15th?
… but so is “Bennet is corrupt for taking PAC money, and I have standing to say that because I just shut down my years of PAC-taking and PAC-running”
I will not apologize for you having a poor chair.
