We just got word that Rep. Sal Pace was picked this morning, either to serve as Speaker of the House or Minority Leader depending on the outcome of still-tabulating House District 29. We should note, though, that Democrats are going out of their way to be realistic about their chances there, and House leaders aren’t operating under the expectation that they’ll be in the majority.
They may have barely lost the House, but those tiny minority cubicles won’t be any more inviting — particularly for Rep. Andy Kerr, who a few months ago was expected to be the new Speaker of the House.

Hope you’re Speaker, but if the recounts don’t work out you’ll be a very able and energetic Democratic Leader for the next two years. Just remember, Aurora gets the water.
I thought Sal would be chomping at the bit to run for Congress. Sal will be a great leader and totally focused on getting a Democratic majority
Anyone there?
Senate President: Brandon Shaffer
Senate President Pro Tempore: Betty Boyd
Senate Majority Leader: John Morse
Assistant Senate Majority Leader: Lois Tochtrop
Majority Caucus Chair: Morgan Carroll
Joint Budget Committee Members: Mary Hodge, Pat Steadman
Here’s my idea. Put Pace and Romer in a room and see which guy’s short man complex ego ridden body falls first.
Yeah! Great job Sal. Going to be a fun year!
The years I spent working at the State Capitol with the majority were some of the most rewarding times I’ve had in terms of politics and government.
The Democratic caucus – aides, staff, and legislators alike – was notable for its remarkable aptitude, intelligence, and deddcation to governnance.
It was an honor to have been part of the team over the years when the Democrats had the majority in the House, and I look forward to when the House goes blue again in two years. Until then, to all those who worked so hard for the caucus this cycle and to all those who I had the particular pleasure of working with, I know you’ll do everything you can to keep the same enterprising spirit alive even if your office is a little bit smaller. Even if those minority cubicles appear pretty unappealing, know that, if it weren’t for college, there is nowhere on Earth I’d rather be.
And hey, even if he’s not in the Speaker’s chair this time around, Andy Kerr certainly owns the record for the sheer number of his former staff that are active in the blogosphere. I can think of three who post and peruse here regularly, and one who, well, posted here so much that he had to start his own blog. It’s a fair consolation prize.
Andy Kerr is Triguardian?
That would explain a lot …
Pueblo represent!!!!
Nancy Todd picked as number two in the House Democratic Leadership and Andy Kerry and Claire Levy are nowhere to be found in the leadership roster.
