  1. Things continue to look good for Ukraine. Russia is likely building up for one final push. And that will likely be rough. But Ukraine remains a fully functioning military including air power.

Meanwhile Russia’s economy continues its slide into a morass. I don’t think they’ll be able to reopen the stock market anytime soon. The Rouble continues to slide. And much of Europe is now working to find alternatives to Russian gas.

And Congress looks like it’s about to pass the budget, including more help for Ukraine. It’s looking good for team Democracy.

    1. Russian Economy is like a Mafia. See Kamil Galeev: “viz Avocado Cartel“.

Z-guys are not that different from Jalisco [avocado] cartel. Putin’s moves make more sense if you consider that Russia is run by a mafia. By a criminal group which extracts tradable export goods through violence or threats. Violent image is Kremlin’s means of production and must be kept

It’s sort of like the Trumpian grift economy.

  2. For those wanting a broader picture of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there is a site Live Univeral Awareness Map providing a sense of Russian occupation. The source says

Live Universal Awareness Map (“Liveuamap”) is a leading independent global news and information site dedicated to factual reporting of a variety of important topics including conflicts, human rights issues, protests, terrorism, weapons deployment, health matters, natural disasters, and weather related stories, among others, from a vast array of sources.

There are ~ 30 different maps, providing overlapping views from the world, to continents, to countries, and even some regions within countries ("DC" and "Texas", for example).

  3. With the bombing of the children hospital, I think it is safe to say we are already in WWIII. The Russians have taken the field and the US is in the locker room trying to figure out whether to wear the home or away jersey.

    1. And Republicans like you are looking at the Russians bombing a maternity and pediatric hospital, with thousands being buried in mass graves, and wondering,” Can we still call ourselves pro-life?” “ Are we still calling Putin “savvy”?” “ Can we still blame this on Hillary Clinton?”

“ Is it possible that Putin is not the “great leader” as Trump, and most Republicans see him?

Just kidding. Few of you all have enough self awarenes or humility to ask yourselves any questions like these.

To make you all feel better about the slaughter of women and children occurring in Ukraine today, here’s a distraction: Lauren Boebert, who has been in office seemingly for years, said some  stupid things again

    2. I'm still fairly astonished.  How do you find the time to run a trucking business AND become a foreign policy expert?

We are still at the point of preparation, unwilling to even provide a lend-lease program.  Ambassadors haven't been recalled.  There's been no attack on the US or treaty-specified allies.  LOTS of possible points for a war — and thus far, the Russians and the Americans are carefully stepping away from the most obvious ones.
