Gabe Evans Has All of the Opinions on Ukraine Funding

See, I only talk out of ONE side of my mouth.

Congressman-elect Gabe Evans (R-Adams County) won’t officially cast a vote in Congress until early January, but he’s already talking at length about some key issues. In some cases, he’s taking all the positions available.

In a recent interview with Marc Rod for the publication Jewish Insider, Evans went into detail about his opinions on U.S. funding for Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia. If you’re a fan of “on the other hand” verbal maneuvering, you’re gonna love this interview.

Part One: Don’t Appease Dictators

Addressing the three House votes earlier this year on U.S. foreign aid to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan, Evans described the Israel vote as “the most clean-cut,” noting that most of the U.S. aid to Israel is spent in the United States and that Israel’s use of U.S.-produced and co-produced systems such as Iron Dome provides valuable intelligence and data to improve its own edge.

He said he looks at Ukraine somewhat differently, explaining, “we cannot reward [Russian President] Putin in any way, shape or form. Appeasing dictators just never works out.”

Part Two: Budget Deficits

But he said that the U.S. has a “pretty substantial national deficit.”

Part Three: Give Ukraine Money, but Do It Better than President Biden:

“We have to make sure that any aid that goes to Ukraine is used efficiently and effectively, and unfortunately we did not see that under the Biden administration.”

He said that the Biden administration provided aid too slowly and in insufficient amounts, such that Ukraine was able to continue fighting but not able to gain a “decisive advantage.”

Part Four: But Hunter Biden!

He also raised questions about corruption in Ukraine, potentially involving President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

Hey, Mr. Speaker. Listen, um, I don’t know what I’m doing. Is that going to be a problem?

Let’s recap, shall we?

Gabe Evans believes that “appeasing dictators just never works out,” which is why he supports continued U.S. funding for Ukraine.

However, Evans is worried about the national deficit so maybe we should not keep funding Ukraine.

But we should fund Ukraine with larger amounts of money all at once instead of a piecemeal process.

On the other hand, maybe we shouldn’t fund Ukraine because Hunter Biden!

Given Gabe’s, uh, variety of opinions, we’d expect the new congressperson from CO-08 to vote however President Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson tell him to vote. The good news for Evans is that he’ll have an explanation ready for whichever vote he’s told to take!

  1. He only won by a little over 2,000 votes out of over 320,000. Let him think he has a mandate to lick Trump's shoes and vote in lockstep with Republican all the way to 2026.
