Phil weiser announces for governor this morning. Impressive list of supporters too.
Who will he face in the Democratic primary? Jena? I doubt it. Unless Neguse gets into the race this is Phil's race to lose.
Same thoughts here, Weiser is a shoo-in for Governor unless Neguse enters the race. Either one would be fine Governors regardless plus there’s no shortage of good candidates.
Anyone know what Morgan Carroll is doing these days? Certainly a good resume. State Rep and Senator. Senate President. Six years as Dem party chair where Dems achieved dominance. Gotta be some chips to cash in from that position and performance.
She's an attorney with Burg Simpson. Agreed she has a great political resume, but I for one haven't heard any chatter that she's running for something this time around.
Well then maybe we should start the chatter.
Griswold lacks the chops for governor, and her recent SOS kerfuffles seal her non-candidate status, methinks. I think Neguse stays in Congress, possibly with an eye towards moving to the upper chamber, which I would welcome. I agree it's Phil's race to lose, and I don't think he'll lose it.
Only time will tell. For one thing, I didn’t expect Polis to run for 2018, especially since Ed Perlmutter seemed to be the frontrunner initially. Neguse and a host of others can still announce their candidacy at any moment, it’s far too early to make conclusions. But like I mentioned earlier, the potential candidate pool may be large and most if not all will be decent choices either way. I just wonder if the COGOP will bother trying to choose a decent candidate with at least some recognition (their recent threats to sue schools for being too gay makes me skeptical) but I’ll admit that having almost no recognizable or broadly popular Republicans to choose from will make that very difficult to do. The GOP (and Gardner himself to be fair) really messed up by not really trying to get Cory Gardner re-elected as Senator, he would have probably been their best candidate if he was still politicking.
@Air Slash (in case this reply ends up somewhere else)
Barbara Kirkmeyer could be a reasonable GOP candidate for governor. But I'd question why she would want to endure the "RINO attacks" from the Williams, Hanks, Peters, Schoening, Hope what's-her-name, wing of the party. After all, new GOP congressionals Hurd, Crank, Evans were already on the RINO Watch website's "hall of shame" before their elections had been certified.
If Kirkmeyer is the best the GOP can muster for governor, then they have a lot of work for themselves. She runs into the problems I’ve mentioned, no offense to her but she’s a nobody even in Colorado politics. Plus it seems like she’s not even popular or well-known among fellow Republicans. Aside from the GOP, the Dems will also roast her alive with her prior hardline views on things like abortion and surely will find more. Even when Colorado was purple and moderately red-leaning before that, the GOP had a hard time winning the governorship but now that the state has changed, the GOP candidate has to do even more if they intend to be serious about it. The shift also means that Kirkmeyer will be considered much too right-wing for many voters (even if she’s considered a RINO if she was in nearby Wyoming or Utah) unless she takes a truly bipartisan and moderate approach but that’s unlikely in this day and age with the GOP obsession of Trumpism.
Agreed Griswold has damaged her brand the past year.
What spaceman2021 said.
Also I'd like some serious competiton for the Democrat candidate for Governor even though I'm already excited at the idea of Governor Weiser. This would help me get the "We already decided who the Democrat candidate is gonna be" taste out of my mouth from the election for President.
I expect the Colorado GOP to trip over each other while trying to simultaneously perform a circle jerk and a circular firing squad within their party until someone fails hard enough to become their candidate.
I am so rooting for Freedumbpster Barbie to be that heroic fighting patriot exemplar who volunteers herself to take up and lead their MAGA charge to save Colorado!
Things are so bad for the Colorado GOP that when you say "Freedumbpster Barbie" I'm not sure which one you're talking about.
But who runs for Joe's seat in CD-2?
Is there some reason to think Joe Neguese wants to leave the #4 or #5 leadership position in the Democratic conference of the House to make a run for governor?
I can't see him being able to do both in 2026, as EITHER ONE will be enough to have him at a full-out schedule. If Democrats can pick up 4 seats, Jeffries becomes Speaker, and Neguese has a real shot at a leadership positions for the Dem conference — https://www.house.gov/leadership

Not Possible – all Military members who live in CoSprings Love Trump & Elon!
Multiple news outlets are ID'ing the Trump Hotel Cybertruck bomber as Matthew Livelsberger of Colorado Springs. He was an active member of the US Army, previously received a Meritorious Honor Award for work benefiting the US Embassy in Tajikistan.

The Sleazerag Daily Mail has much more background (allegedly verified by someone)
Livelsberger has served in the Army for 19 years, the majority of which was spent in the Special Forces (SF) unit.
The suspected terrorist seemingly climbed the ranks throughout his time with the unit, having started off working as a SF Communications Specialist in 2006.
Livelsberger in 2015 moved into an intelligence and operations role within the SF and in 2016 received the Department of State Meritorious Honor Award.
He was recognized by the US Ambassador for 'interagency contributions that resulted in increased interoperability and efficiency while serving as the Operations Sergeant at Special Operations Command Forward- Central Asian States (SOCFWD-CAS) within US Embassy Dushanbe', Livelsberger wrote on LinkedIn.
He became a SF operations manager and team sergeant in February 2023 and moved into his remote and autonomous systems role in November last year.

What does this all mean? I've go no friggin' clue – but as a SF Operator I would've guessed his explosives skills would have resulted in a bigger badder boom. Let's see what actual investigation brings out….
Given T-hump's reptile brain what this likely means now is that Space Command is a certainty to end up in Alabama.
Given his apparent background, I'm surprised by the amateurish and perhaps spur-of-the-moment nature of the attack. Was it a suicide or did he think the Cybertruck's stainless steel cladding would protect him? Not that it would have made much difference, the stainless steel is only on the outside. Only the seatbacks and a cast aluminum bulkhead separated him from the fireworks.
This is definitely a gigantic FU message to Elon and Trump. I'm just glad no one else was seriously hurt.
This seems like it was more of a loud suicide than terrorism. Since it's very likely that Livelsberger acted alone and he died in the explosion the difference is mostly just academic anyway and will only be used in bad faith arguments about his intent.
Maybe he wrote his reasoning somewhere and then we can decide if it was just suicide or actual ineffective terrorism.
The whole thing is just sad.
The little burn very little boom had me scratching my head too. Is he really SF or just a support strap hanger?
Tomorrow's Speaker vote is gonna be another one for the popcorn bucket, isn't it? Johnson doesn’t have the votes to remain speaker. But his allies insist it’s trending his way.
Given the demonstrated inability of the House leadership to count votes during the last session, I don't think ANYONE knows what is going to happen. Maybe the Republican dissidents do —
Previous occasions needing more than one ballot at the start of a session are few and far between … 1923
and 2023
I figure we will soon see the extent of the election mandate for Seeker Johnson.
I just learned of a new program called "The Matt Gaetz Show" on OANN. You'll never guess which sitting Congresswoman from
CD3CD4 will make an appearance on tonight's premiere?
