Tom Brady: Donald Trump For President

  • by: Colorado Pols

deflategateAP via PBS:

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw his support behind presidential candidate Donald Trump Wednesday, hours before the second Republican debate.

The Super Bowl MVP, whose four-game suspension for using deflated footballs was recently overturned by a judge, says he thinks his golf partner can win.

“I hope so,” he said. “It would be great. There would be a putting green on the White House lawn, I can tell you that.”

Lance Armstrong, the 1919 Chicago Black Sox, and that lady who won the Boston Marathon by taking the subway are reportedly on board with Team Trump too! We’re still waiting to hear from Bernie Madoff, a few Scooby Doo villains, and Snidely Whiplash. But really, who the hell else are they going to support?

We’re only partly kidding, folks. Some call them “the bad guys.” Donald Trump calls them his base.

      1. Yep, the base is royally pissed, so supporting Trump/Carson/Fiorina regardless of what they say or stand for is basically an FU note to the GOP:

Now, one reason many Republicans say they are chafing at the status quo is because they are disappointed in the GOP-controlled Congress, which they say hasn’t brought enough change or more effective opposition to the president.

“Nothing’s been delivered for all the blood that’s been spilled,” saidMark Meckler, a tea-party activist. He said the force behind Mr. Trump’s rise is “revulsion of the leadership of the Republican Party.”

…speakers and demonstrators heaped blame on House SpeakerJohn Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for failing to stop the agreement. One protester held aloft a sign that said, “Boehner McConnell—Repugnant Traitors.”

GOP voters are tired of the old bozos, so they are looking for new bozos.

        More heartbreak guaranteed.

        1. Dems, even Bernie fans, sure don't seem to hate their own party's guts half as much as most base Republicans hate theirs. That's really the biggest take away. Bernie may be an outsider in many of his stands but he's been a pol and a legislator most of his adult life. And Dem support for HRC is still huge compared to R support for any GOP pol who has actually held office. Not at all the same as the Donald/Carson/Fiorina situation on the Republican side.  The GOP side is absolutely seething with self loathing. Can't say that I blame them.angel

          1. Definitely a lot to loathe there!

I can't find the article at the moment, but I was reading comments today from Dem voters, and yes, the bottomline was similar to yours — those supporting either Bernie or Joe (with Joe getting the nod for more likely of the two to actually win the nomination), they would certainly vote for HRC if she were the eventual nominee over any GOP opponent that wins the "Dash of the Clowns" race.

            1. And all of them are long time Dem (or in Bernie's case Dem caucus) pols with long government careers, though HRC's, until her stint as Senator, was by marriage, not election. Still she's been a Senator and SOS. So Dem voters have not deserted Dems in government for outsiders who have never governed or held elected office of any kind. As much as the lazy media likes to say there's some kind of mirror thing going on with Trump's popularity and Bernie's, it' really a completely different dynamic at play on each of the two sides.

        1. A long story, but worth the read…

golf partners who privately snicker about how they "got over" on someone else, no doubt. Both cheaters..one in football…one in real estate and finance…equally despicable.
