David Bowie bit the Stardust.
Guy sure had some great songs
"Aaahhhhh,,Wham, Bam, thank you ma'am…."
I am a life long fan…
Say Hi to Ziggy, David….rest in peace….
Yep, my older brother brought home the Ziggy Stardust album back around 1972 and we practically wore the vinyl out listening to it.
I think Bowie's musical, cultural and artistic influence, like Dylan's, reached far beyond his commercial sales numbers.
I'm preparing for a Trump presidency:
The Rise of the Ignorants was marked by Bowie with Tin Machine.
“Can’t Read Shit”
“Under The God”
Sincerest condolences.
PS: Bowie’s real name was Jones but there already was a famous, though far less talented and influential, Davie Jones of the Monkees. Pretty clear which one’s legacy will be the most enduring.
The notice of his death was the last thing I saw online last night and the first thing my wife said to me this morning (I was up later than she). I stumbled across this on Facebook this morning. I was never a big Bowie fan, but this was cool. http://www.mindblowingvideos.com/how-under-pressure-sounds-without-music-freddie-mercury-and-david-bowie-a-cappella.html?h=1
Neil Diamond did a song around 1970 called "Done Too Soon." It was a listing of great people who may have died before their time, when there were still great things to accomplish. He got in a bit of trouble with the far right because he included Ho Chi Minh in his list. But "done too soon" definitely applies to both Mr. Bowie and Mr. Mercury.
Whereas Neil Diamond couldn't have been done producing sappy songs too soon for me if he'd quit in the 60s. Even as a young teen I had a low tolerance for sappy.
….quickly checking Neil Diamond's greatest hits….yup, still love most of them…guess that 'splains some things. But then, the music I like covers a lot of territory.
Saw Neil this summer at the Hollywood Bowl. The ladies are still throwing their undergarments on the stage!
…and financed by Grandpa Bush? Has anyone asked the question whether Grandpa Trump was a third leg in this ménage à trois?
