I’ve been trying to gauge overall interest in another gathering of our esteemed community.
With Phoenix Rising and Laughing Boy expressing interest, I think it would be a good idea to start a discussion of possibilities.
Regretfully I missed the last get together, but I’d like to get input on trying to get as many people as possible together. Since the elections are (almost) over, we can use the time to decompress.
So, I’ll solicit ideas to at least begin discussing everyone’s preferences.
I work on weekends, so Saturday or Sunday would be best for me, around 4 or 5 in or around downtown Denver.
UPDATE: So far, it’s looking like The Cheeky Monk on December 14th at around 4.
Now, let’s get a good idea of how many people are willing to go, and how we can get situated at The Cheeky Monk. Do they have an area we could use, or could we get tables put together?

and then usually have to head straight home to give my wife a break with the kids because I also generally work late Fridays, meaning I haven’t seen them for over a day. That’s what happened to me last time.
Therefore, I’m in favor of a Sunday meeting. 4 or 5 is a good time, downtown Denver a good place.
Though lets do it somewhere besides 8 Rivers, because I wasn’t there, but I felt bad that Wanda had to play host instead of fully joining in.
Count me in
While I generally try to avoid such things on Sundays, I could make an exception for this.
4 or 5 would let me go to church and be there….
I thought that having it in the late afternoon would give everyone a chance to go about their normal days. I hope you can make it.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone.
certis paribus
. . . would attend if the date just happens to work for us to be in Denver.
Sunday afternoon is good; I sometimes go to a music session in Denver around 7, so 4-5pm start would be great for me.
So let’s hear some dates and places, folks!
I only say that because I’m going to the Broncos-Chiefs game on the 7th, and I assume people will be too burnt out from the Holiday to do it this weekend.
It would be nice to have some planning time for this meet-up. The 14th is a ways off, but yeah – I could see a conflict with the Broncos game (not to mention the traffic tie-ups…)
No major parade or political event to conflict with!!!
I was hoping for a new venue – The Cheeky Monk:

I know we live in the Home of the Microbrew, but the Belgians still do it best…
If the food prices are not too high, that’ll work.
RSB suggested December 14th, which gives everyone enough time to work their schedules out.
but you can’t dis the Belgians. I’m up for it. And I like Dec. 14th also.
International Gold Medal Winner – Dry Dock Brewing in Aurora is knockout great! And, this is not just from me promoting them because I am pushing Aurora. Their brews are tremendous and worth stopping in for a pint ( or two ).
pretty much any time, as long as it’s walking distance from downtown Denver.
redstateblues suggested December 14th, which would give most of us time to work out our schedules. 4 or 5 would work out from what I see.
SSG_Dan suggested The Cheeky Monk, whick looks like a good place.
I’m up for anywhere with decent food and prices.
If anyone has an idea for a place, I could put up a poll or just work it out throught the thread.
Their steamed mussles are really good. Not too expensive. I would like to join everyone and so far the date and time look good.
let’s oput faces to the names
but this one isn’t going to work out. Another time.
The 14th works for me. I’ll be watching for time and place.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Have to meet SR!
The place was SSG_Dan’s idea, here’s the website he posted-
http://www.thecheekymonk.com/
From what I saw on the website, it looks like a good place.
I was aiming for the time most suitable for the most people interested. I say about 4 so that it gives everyone some wiggle room.
with no easily visible option to turn it off.
Really? In 2008? Really?
though the piano didn’t really bother me.
The Aurora location looks good.
I also work downtown, so the location would be good for me. I don’t know how the parking is, if there are meters or a parking lot.
I’ll try to scope them out this week to get an idea, and get some final information on the site ASAP.
Colfax gets my vote
please post a diary giving all the details and I’ll front page it.
thanks – dave
Hopefully by Wednesday.
It’s central, pretty easy parking on a Sunday, and they have Belgian waffles!
Wait, so I’m the only one who’s going to drink some serious Belgian beer, and everyone else is going to designate themselves as driver and nurse one beer for four hours?
