From the smelly CIC Department, Drumpf's chief national security officer, Dr. Sebastian Gorka (and could there be a more cartoon-villain name for the guy?) is not a "Dr", is as lousy with suspect Russian cash as the rest of TweeterDumb's cabinet, and is a conspiracy theorist who thinks Teh MooseLambs are out to get him. Oh joy.
Trumps very own Dr. Strangelove.
Houston, we have a problem. Obamacare premiums are up an average of 25% 2016-2017
Those are the numbers from the Feds, table 6 page 20

If things are so bad, why don’t the House republicans do something about the problem?
I expect they will within the next week or two.
corrected
Did you mean "they will?" And are you mad?
I am actually pretty happy.
Good to know cornholio. Guess you get serious wood from the idea of people losing their healthcare.
Well, that a ripping the wings off flies.
AC — any indication how much of that 25% is attributable to Congress refusing to pay more than about 15-20% of what was promised for risk adjustment, reinsurance, and risk corridors?
It seems the insurance companies now have data based on their own experience in the market and figured out they are losing money. Per the report:
This year, with two years of cost data available, issuers are adjusting their premiums to bring them in line with costs. In addition, some of the ACA’s programs designed to support the new market in its early years are ending this year, putting transitory upward pressure on premium growth.
There seems to have been a certain amount of "buying in" that companiies are now backpedaling from. Yet, overall, ACA is far under budget. And the notion that the Fart Joke administration and the StumblebumRepublican Congress will miraculously get theiract together and pass a reasonable replacement in two weeks is ludicrous.
Tell you what, AC. I'll bet you $1,000 it doesn't happen. If you take the bet, we each place $1,000 in escrow. If a replacement bill is signed in two weeks, you get the money. Otherwise, I'll throw meet-up at a place of Cookie's choice with food and drinks paid for by my winnings.
Is it a bet?
I'm all in favor of the meet-up, V, but how'd I get dragged into this?
BTW, tonight is Denver's Dining Out For Life to benefit Project Angelheart, a worthy cause if there ever was one.
You're the master of the cuisine, Cookie, and probably the kindest, best-liked, polster of them all.
Well, V'ger, looks like you have a reasonably safe bet. Gerbils' confidence is more empty bravado:
Even if they do pass it in the House by the skin of their teeth, the only reason, as explained by several GOP members, is to toss this smelly turd over to their Senate Republican colleagues to let them fart around with for a few months.
It's an investment grade bet, which is why ac won't take it.
Sen. Gardner experiences another brief moment of national prominence … and says something showing he believes in magic pixie dust.
"Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, said it's clear the administration will pressure China and other nations in the region "to get the results we need, which is peaceful denuclearization."
– I'm not certain this Sad!-ministration can do much of anything. "Pressuring" China appears to be far from their capabilities.
– Even if Trump and Co. do encourage other nations to act or threaten, North Korea is not known to be amenable to outside pressure, especially in the short term or on a central focus of the Kim dynasty.
Trump stinks.
Stay upwind, my friends.
Does Donald Trump want a cheap divorce from Melania?
His attorneys are arguing for zero tolerance on hiding any legal offenses on immigration forms, so Melania has got to go:
SLAPP update:
Last Friday, SGI filed an amended complaint. This was the company's one opportunity to augment its earlier claims, or to raise new charges against me.
However, SGI raises no new relevant issues — instead opting to note things such as I am not a blogger writing from my mother's basement, that I am an avowed and outspoken critic of SGI, and that I have pointed out in public fora that Rep. Tipton–the congressman who represents the district I live in–has received large amounts of campaign dollars from SGI and its principals.
I acknowledge all these things: I moved out of home at the age of 18; I am, in fact, an outspoken critic of misguided attempts to industrialize our public lands; and Mr. Tipton has–in fact–received significant campaign contributions from this company.
Thus the substance of the charge against me, and its baselessness and frivolous nature, are not changed.
SLAPP actions are about harassing activists. Tactics often include filing a slew of motions and papers and other court actions to tie up an activist's time and resources and cost them money. This seems the case here,
But it could still drag out – meanwhile my activism continues. And the need for activism only grows. Tomorrow I will be Marching for Climate. The work for change simply cannot be derailed by a few Texas oil men with a grudge.
