Congressman Tom Tancredo threw his support behind Scott Tipton at an immigration reform rally in Grand Junction Thursday.

“If the people of the 3rd District want change in Washington, I hope they will join me in supporting my friend Scott Tipton,” said Congressman Tancredo. “John Salazar may be a good guy but his voting record shows he is not standing up for the issues his constituents care about like curbing illegal immigration, protecting our borders and fighting the war on terror,” added Tancredo.

Specifically, Tancredo referenced Salazar’s vote last fall against legislation to provide for 700 miles of security fence along the U.S.–Mexico border.  He also referenced Salazar’s repeated support of amnesty programs and opposition to legislation cracking down on sanctuary cities. “What you see with my colleague John is a record of someone happy with the status quo when it comes to border security & immigration enforcement. It is not good enough to just cast votes in Washington. The taxpayers expect you to contribute to the debate. Whether it is on Immigration Reform, Border Security, or other issues, John has been AWOL,” added Tancredo.

“I am proud to support Scott Tipton. Scott is a man I can count on to stand with me on important issues like Immigration Reform and Border Security. As a strong fiscal conservative, Scott will also fight against wasteful spending and government bureaucracy. More than these things, Scott is a man of character who will serve his constituents with integrity. I urge the voters in the 3rd Congressional District to join me in supporting Scott Tipton,” added Tancredo.

“I am humbled by the support of Congressman Tancredo. I appreciate his willingness to travel the 3rd District with me and listen to the folks of Grand Junction, Montrose, Cortez and Durango. If given the privilege to serve, I will stand with Congressman Tancredo in his efforts to secure our borders, reform our immigration system and keep our communities safe,” said Scott Tipton.

  1. Tancredo hasn’t followed through with any of his campaign promises, so why should we believe his protege?

I thought Tom Tancredo was going to set his own term-limits? What happened Tom, did you get power hungry?
