Former member of the Colorado Senate John Andrews is paid by the Claremont Institute to run “Backbone America.” Mr. Andrews claims:
Backbone America is a national citizens alliance that champions the principles of the American founding.
One of those principles being…censorship?
In the last several weeks, comments have begun disappearing from Mr. Andrews’ Backbone America website. All the deleted comments challenged Mr. Andrews’ views on the world, but contained no profanity, hearsay, or personal attacks.
Yet apparently any debate is too much for John Andrews. Even clicking that “Delete comment” button on the Mambo site administrator page apparently became tedious, so he simply shut comments off for all his new postings.
Sure, it’s his website and he can run it however the Claremont Institute wants him to. But there is no stated site policy for comments. Stifling civic debate is unpatriotic. Doing so without explanation or justification is cowardly.
Backbone America states:
Our name evokes the high Rockies as a summons to individual honor and constitutional rigor in these times.
But there’s no honor or rigor in hiding from those who disagree with you.

But I’m not. Andrews has become his own best company and seems to want to keep it that way. He has long since put himself in the position of “butt of jokes”. Sad to see a former Senate Pres. fall so far.
