Who Is the Best Political Reporter in Colorado?

  • by: Colorado Pols

Colorado Confidential last week surveyed legislators and staffers at the State Capitol about the media that covers them. Lynn Bartels of the Rocky Mountain News was selected as the best reporter by an overwhelming margin, but we want to know what YOU think.

Make your nominations for best political reporter below, and we’ll run a poll tomorrow.

    1. Maybe the standards have slipped so low that she looks good.

The very first time I had an interaction with her in response to a story she wrote, I suggested that there might be an unethical connection between two certain individuals.  You know how she figured out there wasn’t?  SHE CALLED ONE AND ASKED!  Wow, a regulas Ms. Sherlockinna Holmes there.

Over time I’ve notice many failures to identify one of the classics W’s:  Who, What, Why, When, and Where.  She’s not alone in this, many “journalists” couldn’t have gotten out of a sixties HS journalism class.

The corker was after the two major parties had their state assemblies last summer.  Her story said that the Repubs met in Greeley!  HELLO!  Do you read your own newspaper?  When I emailed her about this, she said that her editor put that line in there and was completely dismissive instead of apologetic.

If Lynn Bartels is the best, to use a Jefferson quote, “I tremble in fear for my country.”

  1. No one can touch her when it comes to: accuracy, institutional memory, un-biased reporting, quality of writting, and big-picture politics.

  2. Did you notice that someone mentioned Ed as the worst political reporter?  I’m guessing it’s someone from the Gazette’s readership who has a bone to pick with him.  I’ve always found Ed’s reporting to be quite good, with the only complaint that he doesn’t report as much as he should (which could very well be an editorial problem).  Any thoughts?

    1. Remember the editorial endorsement of C on the Sunday Post before the election?  Whether you were for it or against it, that was prostitution…that was Bob Sell-out.

  3. It’s funny how most papers put their comics pages in the entertainment section of the paper.  But always environmentally conscious, the DP graciously put their jokes section on the editorial page.  Except for Fred Brown.  He’s not funny at all.  In fact, the man is typically right in a very UNfunny manner.

Nevertheless, thank you Post, thank you!
