Hickenlooper, Wadhams Media Darlings

  • by: Colorado Pols

We’ve mentioned before how new GOP Chair Dick Wadhams plays the Colorado media like puppets, but he definitely has competition there in Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper.

The Rocky Mountain News ran a huge front-page story today about new polling on Hickenlooper’s job performance that was done by The Kenney Group, which also manages Hickenlooper’s re-election campaign. The story was so blatantly one-sided that they might as well have let The Kenney Group write it themselves and given them the byline.

All of which got us wondering: Who is more beloved by the Colorado media? Click below to vote.

  1. only because it is frequently his name on the page. DW is as beloved but frequently gets the results, not the direct adulation.

    1. I read in silence when I have nothing to contribute. I’m still getting my education in Colorado politics from y’all, so, please, never hesitate to dish up more info, even if you seem to be only talking to yourself!

  2. But I have got to give it to Hick – The people of Denver believe his poop does not stink! He is in favor of a homeless program that is so socialist that even Ken Gordon doesn’t propose it in the peoples republic, his recent disasters with the snow disasters left him unscathed and he supports an imigration policy that has been called sanctuary by the talking heads. Does he wear that Tag body spray when talking to the press? It can’t be his Conan Obrien like looks.

  3. I’ve thought his schtick was insincere pap since his first cmapaign, but he has got something on the average hand-squuezing, baby hugging professional care-mongering dope.  Maybe it’s that he shows up at every Boulder-esque fair and community confab he can find – the guy can wokr those crowds.
Only a near immortal could stand dumbly by and act perplexed to see snow, in a mountain city, in the winter, threaten people who finally took the initiative to plow their own damn streets, promise all kinds of deadlines to have streets cleared only to watch them go whooshing past, and still be well-liked (at least in Denver).
Wadhams on the other hand, has nowhere near the overwhelmingly positive press.  Despite being a Denver guy, he’s written up as the outsider a lot, and the glory days of taking down Daschle have been replaced, perhaps forever, by Macaca.
