    1. The Board of trustee’s special committee finds that he is guilty of ethical and governance violations and the a-hole is trying to negotiate a better deal.  The Europeans are afraid to cause a rift with the Bush administration.  I say fire the SOB and have the Euros tell the Bush administration to go to hell.

  1. Wealth Is a Common Factor Among 2008 Hopefuls

    By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK
WASHINGTON, May 16 – Former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani of New York, who just six years ago told a divorce court he had only $7,000 in assets under his control, has amassed a net worth of more than $30 million, much of it from paid speeches.

Former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina, who has spent the last three years crusading against poverty, also reported about $30 million in assets. His income included nearly half a million dollars for advising an elite investment fund and $40,000 for directing a poverty studies program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Mr. Giuliani and Mr. Edwards reported their assets in personal financial disclosure forms released Wednesday by the Federal Election Commission. Federal election laws require all the presidential candidates to file the forms. Together, they offer a glimpse of the general affluence of all the primary candidates and the truly extreme wealth of a few.

Neither Mr. Giuliani, a Republican, nor Mr. Edwards, a Democrat, is the richest of the White House hopefuls. That title belongs to Mitt Romney, a founder of the private equity firm Bain Capital, who has said he expects to report as much as $350 million in assets, including a trust for his heirs. Mr. Romney and Senator John McCain of Arizona, both Republicans, and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrat of New York, have all received extensions of the filing deadline for their forms.

    . . .

Mr. Giuliani’s $30 million fortune is the most unexpected information to emerge from the disclosure forms so far. During his divorce from Donna Hanover in June 2001, a lawyer for Mr. Giuliani said he had only $7,000 in personal money “under his control.” His salary as mayor of New York at the time was about $195,000, and his local financial disclosure forms showed less than $800,000 in deferred compensation, pension, retirement and mutual funds. He had also signed a contract to write two books for an advance of $3 million.

The latest disclosure form suggests that his biggest source of income was speeches, capitalizing on his celebrity after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. For the period covered by the form – roughly the calendar year 2006 – Mr. Giuliani reported making 124 speeches for as much as $200,000 each and earning a total of about $11.4 million

  2. The White House is opposing the House Armed Services Committee attempt to increase military personnel salary by 3.5%–instead wanting the increase to be only 3%.  This in spite of the fact that the higher proposal from the house is designed to close a gap between civilian and military pay that is currently 3.9%.  Here is a link to the full article:

    1. It would be nice if C.D. 5 had a seat on Armed Service Committee and Congressman with a set of cojones ready to push for the larger raise over the objections of the White House.  Is Lamborn still waiting for that call from Denny Hastert regarding that seat on Armed Services?

  3. In 2004 McNerney ran for Congress and was defeated.

In 2006 the DCCC recruited a more “moderate” candidate to run.  McNerney refused to back down. McNerney won the primary with 75% of the vote despite his opponent being helped by the DCCC.

McNerney went on to defeat a Republican Committee Chair by seven points in November 2006.

Why should Angie Paccione back down?

    1. After a year and a half of solid campaigning against Marilyn Musgrave, I’d be surprised if Paccione was too rattled by any of this.

    2. Democrats’ margin of loss has shrunk each time since 2000 in CD-4.  Angie Paccione will win this time, and then we actually get to sing that “Ding, dong, the witch is dead…” song from The Wizard of Oz.  I think we’ve practiced it enough.

      1. Haven’t you heard?

After defying all the common wisdom about an invincible Marilyn and showing that Musgrave is vulnerable, all these other candidates want to trash Angie so they can seize the opportunity she created!

I guess that means Angie should throw in the towel. Shucks.

  4. Political activist and all around phony and hypocrite withdrew from the Aaron Thompson case in Aurora today.

Mr. Lane said that his client was missing a key witness.

    Mr. Green was missing.

I hope that Hank Brown has the guts along with the CU Regents to give nothing to Lane and his client Ward Churchill.

    1. It’s about time that changed.  Don’t reward that jackass for academic dishonesty and plagiarism.  His defenders say none of this would have happened if he had not published his “little eichmans” manifesto, and that is true.  Let he who has no sin cast the first stone…

  5. Brandon Shaffer is the cowboy who has a big hat but no horse.

Angie Paccione raised over a million dollars.

In a primary fight with Angie Brandon would have a hard time even raising $200,000.

  6. Well the Donkeycrats and Dumbopublicans put on a hell of a phony wrestling match for the ever srinking dumbed down ‘dancing with the stars’ public.

First you had the Donkies make the most outrageous claim that, they were going to “listen to the American people” who put them in power in November,  and vote to end the war. Please, give me a break.

Then you have the Dumbopublicans using their vintage Soviet Moscow propaganda, by (disgracefully) wrapping themselves around troops while begging for more money.  Well, I guess if history repeats itself the troops WILL get a fracton so small, crumbs would seem rather generous.  While contractors and other special interests supporting the coffers of both the left and right get the majority of it.

    Dems Cave in…Imagine my surprise.

  7. Attorneys for Vice President Cheney and top White House officials told a federal judge today they cannot be held liable for anything they disclosed to reporters about covert CIA officer Valerie Plame or her husband, former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV….

Attorneys for Cheney and the other officials said any conversations they had about Plame with each other and reporters were part of their normal job duties because they were discussing foreign policy and engaging in an appropriate “policy dispute.” Cheney’s attorney went farther, arguing that Cheney is legally akin to the president because of his unique government role, and has absolute immunity from any lawsuit.

“So you’re arguing there is nothing — absolutely nothing – these officials could have said to reporters that would have been beyond the scope of their employment [whether it was] true or false?,” U.S. District Judge John D. Bates asked.

“That’s true, your honor. Mr. Wilson was criticizing government policy,” said Jeffrey S. Bucholtz, Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s civil division. “These officials were responding to that criticism.”

    Shameful!!!!!

  8. World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz has resigned his post, effective June 30.

An internal panel tasked with investigating the lucrative pay and promotion package Wolfowitz arranged in 2005 for girlfriend Shaha Riza found him guilty of breaking bank rules.

Wolfowitz is the first World Bank president to ever leave the bank under a cloud of scandal.

This all falls under the heading of:

WORST PRESIDENT EVER! That’s where the crises of leadership will ultimately lay.
