From The Cortez Journal, on a good story about Scott Tipton and CD-3:
For now, Tipton is the sole Republican actively campaigning to represent the party in Junes primary. Former GOP nominee Greg Walcher, of Palisade, filed paperwork to run last January, but he has not been seen along the campaign trail so far.
Tipton addressed some concern among the Republican hierarchy and countered certain mentions on state political blogs such as Coloradopols.com that he apparently has not raised enough campaign funds to be considered a valid candidate. He said he realizes the only barometer this far out from the election is revenue, but what cant be counted, he said, is the amount of time hes spent putting nearly 30,000 miles on his vehicle since April while touring the 3rd District.

I know Tipton has been around Grand Junction quite a bit in the last few months. I heard he was meeting with a lot of the big check writers in town and made some good impressions. He seems very far along with almost a year to go. Seems like a very strong candidate with some very loyal supporters in this area. Will make for an interesting race.
