Bomb Factory in my Neighborhood

  • by: M. Douglas Wray

Got home from a trip to the mountains to find this story splattered all over the news:

Longmont Police Remove Explosive Chemicals

Aside from being in literally the largest typeface they can find, it’s kind of a scary story (be a-frayyyeed!)

The 2400 block of Sunset is less than a mile from where I live on Bowen St.
map

The bomb squad blew up something in Raber Park – we got a reverse-911 call warning us not to worry. Then about 20 minutes later there was a ground-shaking explosion from that area. Whatever they blew up was HUGE. It would have done serious damage. It shook the ground ten blocks away.

My question is: why aren’t the people living in the house under arrest?

What concerns me is that this could be linked to White Supremist activities – we’ve had more than one ‘drop’ of anti-Hispanic literature in our neighborhood and now this.

The Longmont Police weren’t the least bit helpful about the White Supremist literature drops, didn’t care about the vehicle that was sighted doing them… and now this.

I can’t help but think there’s a connection and it’s butt-covering time.

  1. Was it normal anti immigrant language, or more provocative?

If it was bad you may want to contact the SPLC’s Klanwatch.  They appreciate any information that helps them monitor the white supremist movement.

  2. one news story online about it.  Sorry to those who hate Fox but Fox 31 is the only place with the story.

From the looks of this guy he is probably the classic loser/loner type who gets into the White Supremacy garbage.  The thing is, some the stuff he was messing with was all at the more unstable end of things, nitroglycerine, PETF, thermite, Lead Azide.  His neighbors are real lucky that their block isn’t a crater.

    1. Provided it isn’t lit, anyway.  The other stuff – yipes!  If he was looking for easy and unstable, why not just go for my chemistry teacher’s favorite floor sprinkle: Nitrogen Triiodide…  He took out a 3″ thick slate lab table with it once by accident (let it dry in a heap…).
