  1. The Denver Post does a good piece on Democrats Fawcett and Winter today here.

The Post says that more than 30 veterans have signed up as Democratic challengers this year and have organized under the banner “Veterans for a Secure America.”  The NRCC flack they interviewed was pretty lame with his talking point responses.

  2. I think Sir Robin is actually Ward Churchill’s alter ego.

Where Ward blatently plagarizes other people’s work to pass off as his own, Robin will cut and paste the whole daggone thing, but provide the source of the material.

The cutting and pasting is pure Robin though….

    Brilliant!!!

  3. Yes, as a busy man, why should I take my time to reformulate well written pieces. And, I am pro-american, when government, institutions, individuals and business are acting in the best of American ideals. I am pro-profit when those profits are earned, properly distributed, and gained without despoiling the environment. I am for free speech-a truly American ideal. Ward Churchill included. That’s more than I can say for those, including gecko and Raiders who haven’t investigated crimes of corporate america infliced on properly elected governments, environments or peoples around the globe. It’s all well documented. Do your homework so that I don’t have to cut and paste.

On the otherhand, I may make it a New Years resolution to bring you two the truth in 2006. But as Jack Nicklous said in “A Few Good Men” – You can’t handle the truth. You’re really not interested in either hearing it or investigationg it. You both have your heads in the sand. (I’m being kind here).

You two deserve each other. Perhaps your the same person? I know that humans can only have one sphincter muscle….but maybe you’re the exception.

  4. Seems to me Robin that your idea of truth is only allowed if it fits your negative anti government agenda.
“Properly distibuted profits”? What the hell does that mean? I’m thinking you mean take from those that have and give to those that don’t.
Like my dad used to say, “sounds like a man with a paper asshole”.

  5. All that needs to be said about Churchill’s award is the name of the award.  The “Moore” Award?  Give me a break.  Sullivan hands out the “Moore” Award to the person best demonized by the GOP during the year, which Ward certainly qualifies for regardless of the legitimacy of any complaints.

  6. Churchill is a waste of skin. He can sit in his college classes and spew hatred of everything American, while the only reason he can is because many men died to give him that right. And as he is calling corporate America names and denouncing the system, he is raking in millions because of it.
I’d love to meet him outside a biker bar. Have the H.A. do a number on his wannabee Indian head.

  7. Absolutely, PR.  To criticize the infallible Ward Churchill in any way is to “demonize” him.  Ward is God, and real Americans are just contemptible scum unfit to lick his boots.  We’re lucky he takes time from his busy schedule of calling us Eichmans to cash the checks paid for by our hard earned dollars.  But I don’t think you will ever meet him outside a biker bar, Gecko.  If he got within a mile of one, he’d fill his pants and the stench would drive the bikers aways.

  8. I was commenting on the award, not the recipient.

Yes, Churchill does have the ability to do what he does because men died to give him that right.  And it’s a dishonor to the memories of those heroic men to suggest that he not be allowed to do so.  I may not like the man, but I’ll defend his right to say the things he says.

  9. If we could summon up the spirits of most of those heroic men that died, how many do you think would be proud of ‘ol Ward?
I know they and I would die to protect his rights to say his crap, but I do believe when the lights went out we would be short one Chief Running Mouth.

  10. No doubt we would be short said person, Gecko.  For right or wrong.

You mistake my support for Churchill, voyageur.  His presentation is deliberately confrontational in a way that I believe is unproductive to debate, he uses hyperbole without backup, and his academic integrity is still legitimately in question.  But he has as much right to be in his position as does the most radical free-market economics professor.

I will defend the Eichmann comment though, to some extent: it is the perception of U.S. imperialism and corporatism and their ability to degrade the integrity of the Islamic Middle East that drives the rhetoric of bin Laden and other Islamic anti-US extremists (those who aren’t just in it for the anti-Israeli kick).  Our actions have consequences, and we as Americans do not tend to look deeply at those consequences.  We as consumers and corporate employees are not innocent of all blame for the actions of the corporations we support in our daily lives; if we wish to be caretakers of our world, we must acknowledge the totality of our decisions.

  11. Sir Robin,

Humans have more than one sphincter muscle.  There are two externally, the mouth and the anus.  There are several internal sphincter muscles (esophagus, bladder, duodenum, etc.).

Oh yes! Plumbers aren’t just pretty faces, we know all kinds of useless stuff.

BTW, I often get complaints from the maintenance crew over at CU.  Apparently the toilets get clogged during every one of Churchill’s lectures.  In medical terminology, it’s called fecal emesis.

  12. Plumber: That was beautiful:-)

Yes, there are nine orifices. Thanks for the “ejication”. I think you got my point.

    It’s not “useless stuff” 🙂

Regarding toilets, they get stuffed up every building I’ve ever been in….why? because humans are ful of shit!

Our task….separate the wheat from the chaff…. the shit from the rest…

    I’m up to the task.

  13. Phoenix,

First of all, there is nothing radical about the free market.  What is radical is that some think that it can be changed for the better, despite centuries of evidence to the contrary.  Oops, that’s not radical, it’s Einstein’s definition of insanity.

Next, your statement about Islam reveals the disconnect between leftists and the true nature of the enemy we face.

Unless you are willing to kill for jihad, then you are worthy of being killed for jihad.  These wackjobs and their so-called “religion of peace” don’t give a damn about a new Wendy’s restaurant in Iraq, or a new Walmart in Beijing.

The true voice of Islam?  Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.  Get ready! The War on Terror ain’t over till this prick is dead.  Thank goodness we have his country surrounded.

After the international community fails to nullify him as a threat…wait a minute. What am I  saying?  With the U.N. and the Europeans on the case, there is no reason for the U.S. military to become involved.

The Democrats, including The Veterans for a Secure America, should be able to ride the leftist “solution” to Iran all the way to victory in ’06 and ’08.  Hey, good luck with that!

  14. The Plumber-Mental Masturbator

Not my name…Just click on “The Plumber”

    My definition of masturbation:

      A waste of potential

    Under present governance…..Welcome to 2006

  15. Sir Robin,

Yeah, I got your point.  And no, I won’t be separating anything.  Staying clean is why I do new construction and not service or drain cleaning.

  16. The reason you defend the Eichman comment, PR, is that you share it.  It is the logical outcome of the leftish, Amerika Stinks, Capitalism is Evil, mentality.  IF Amerika is evil, then all who make it work are evil.  Besides, defending Churchill’s imbecilic “right” to his views is stupid.  The point is he is a complte fraud, lied his way onto the payroll, and should be fired for fraud, plaigiarism, and failure to bathe regularly.  Free speech doesn’t include the right to bill the taxpayer for his vomit.  He can stand on a corner and scream all the lies he wants, he just can’t do it on my tax dollar.

  17. Hey Phoenix! I have an idea.

maybe we could send Albright, Carter, Clinton, and Berger over to Iran to broker a deal similar to the one they gave Kim Jung Il.

Asia has never been so stable.

Of course, we ought to wait to see how effective the U.N. efforts are.  Who knows?  Maybe only leftists, or the French, can dialog effectively with someone who believes there are a gaggle of virgins waiting for him in Heaven.

Where’s Slick Willie when you need him?

  18. Thank goodness we have his country surrounded.

yes, I’m sure that he is frightened. What with the rising narco-state in Afghanistan and the democratically elected theocratic Shia regime in Iraq.

We’ve really got ’em on the ropes!

  19. Regarding Republican sociopathy:

I think the explanation you’re looking for is much broader than a singular psychosis. The nature of evil–in a non-religious sense–encompasses more than one diagnosable disorder. You’d also need to add a pinch of narcissism, and a touch of paranoia as well.

But, it is an interesting topic to dissect. If anything, I view republicanism as a cult of people lacking in the ability to be introspective. Or as M. Scott Peck calls ’em, “People of the Lie”. I stole the following from someone’s web page. See if you notice any familiar traits among the republicans you know…

Colorado Pols does not allow the cutting and pasting of large blocks of text.

  20. If Churchill has no rights to work on the tax dollar, then you can also kiss any Right-wing professors you might know of goodbye as well; we will become the land of politically-appointed milquetoast education.  Yeah.  College is supposed to be stimulating; didn’t you ever get a teacher who made you think, even though you disagreed with much of what they said?  On the charges of lying, he’s still under investigation and that’s sufficient for me.

As to my views on ‘merka being a land of capitalist evil, wow – what a blatant misrepresentation.  If I choose to purchase a Hummer to drive around town and choose to care not a whit which oil companies are doing the least damage to our world (politically and/or environmentally), I am a contributor to the problems we are having with oil, including the problem of maintaining a large military and corporate presence in the Middle East, where some loopy if popular fanatics have decided that Western influence is bad for the purity of their religious doctrine.

This is nothing more than a practical application of free-market doctrine, that the consumer should be able to influence the direction of corporations through their decisions in the marketplace.

Churchill’s hyperbole using Eichmann as its base is just this comparison; some say that Eichmann was just looking to get ahead, that he had no anti-Semitic tendencies and did as he did to advance his career.  Putting aside the extremity of the hyperbole, just how different from that is the tendency of Americans to want to just go along to get along, without thinking of the consequences or damning the consequences?

  21. Stop digging yourself deeper, PR.  Again, you defend Churchill’s Eichmann comment because you share it.  If you can’t get a life, then find a better country.

  22. Plumber,

Do you think it radical that we have no government regulation over pollution, toxic chemical releases, or exploitative labor practices?  There are people who teach that these regulations are detrimental to a society as defined by a true free market.

  23. Well, I can only put forward my honest thoughts.  If you’re willing to replace them with some prejudicial notion of my beliefs, I guess I can only be disappointed in the lack of an opportunity to actually have an intelligent discussion.

  24. 2003 Ford F250 Diesel and a 96 Chevy SS 350 half ton. Neither get great mileage but I am the only one that has to pay at the pump.
So I hope that when I ride my Titan that gets 50 mpg I’m not a lefty……..? Say it isn’t so Go Raiders.

  25. Two cars: Neon (gets ~36mpg) and Subaru Forester (~27mpg).  Can’t drive a hybrid because I live in the mountains, need the Forester because of my Photography sideline.  If someone can offer me up a suggestion for a small SUV that has the same or better clearance, good reliability, a 5+’ long cargo space, and better mileage, I’m up for a replacement vehicle in 2006 or early 2007.

I also favor gas stations that aren’t supporting expanded wilderness area drilling, acknowledge the future need for alternate fuels, and/or aren’t getting their oil from politically unstable areas of the world.

  26. Gecko,

Perhaps its not so okay that in heated Left-Right discussions that us “lefties” have opinions that are as well-formed as those of us on the Right.  At least I’m trying to form a rational dialog on the issues, but I’m mostly getting character put-downs back in place of counterpoint.

You think Churchill needs to go because he’s a radical.  I think if he goes, it will be after a full and impartial investigation.  You’d rather see him at a blanket party, I’m not that kind of guy.  Difference in opinion, and I think mine holds up well to reason.

And if EMRosa wants to take an absolutist stand, that’s fine by me 🙂

  27. Damn… I was hoping Phoenix would tell me that he drove a 68 VW bus and I could go into the whole Southpark rant about Hippies and Cars with lousy gas mileage.

1 question, is there a list of this kind of gas station?  Do they advertise????

And Gecko, the trucks make up for the Titan, I am still you are still on the right side.

  28. Where is the investigation? Why is it taking so long? Why did they kick the coach of CU out in minutes and a putrid animal like Churchill is still at it, spreading his warped sick views on our young?
If you can defend him you better stand back and take a long look in the mirror. You might end up being surrounded by Churchills one day………..

  29. The investigation into his professional conduct started back in September(?) and is supposed to take up to 9 months.  The initial investigation by CU turned up nothing that they could determine justified revoking his tenure, but referred many of the evaluations on his professional conduct to a “technical panel” that was in a position to properly evaluate many of the plagiarism and similar charges.

As to kicking out the coach, well, I’m not much of a football fan, so I won’t go there.  I’m okay with defending Churchill on at least his freedom of speech merits; we have worse in our schools on all ends of the political spectrum, and I’ll defend (most) of them, too.  Churchill comes pretty close to the line for me; I stop at incitement to criminality or violence, and he sometimes likes to tread close…

  30. I defy you, PR, to show me anyone in a tenured faculty position in the U.S. who is “worse” than churchill.  I’ll even defend an all-out commie like H. Bruce Franklin because, radical though he is, he is also a legitimate scholar and expert on Herman Melville.  Churchill is a fraud and bully through and through, a liar, a plaigiarist, and guilty of numerous violations of research fraud.  The scandal is that a montebank like him was ever given tenure, and that came outside the normal process because he was playing the “hire me or I’ll claim you hate Indians” card.  And he has cross the line to inciting violence on many occasions, not to mention being abusive to his wives.  But as to the coach, A-coaches don’t have tenure but B, they do have contracts.  His was bought out for $3 million.  I wish my boss would fire me for screwing up and force me to settle for a lousy $3 million.  I’m even willing to buy out Churchill, but wouldn’t go above $300 K for it.  As to cars, PR, its hard to beat the forester in your situation but look at the Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe twins.  AWD, 5 foot cargo area (up to eight if you fold the passenger seat down) 30 mph EPA numbers and about $5K less than the subaru.

PS Gecko, you’re a good man!  I also have a Ford F-250 diesel!  They get damn good mileage for a three-quarter ton truck and are great for running VW microbuses festooned with peace signs off the road.

  31. Again, I’m holding off on the “fraud” bit; I’m quite content to wait for a full and proper investigation rather than the “hang ’em high” approach.  If the allegations are true, I’d be more than happy to be the one telling Ward “don’t let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you!”  As to the other kind of worse, there are militant activists like Churchill in positions throughout the country; I stated my qualifications on “worse” above, and we’ve certainly had professors go over the top and recommend violence in the past.

Pity the Matrix/Vibe only has 5.9″ clearance.  The Forester is 7.3″, and the new Outbacks are 8.5″.  I need that for the “modest” dirt tracks I drive.  Thanks for the thought, though.

Oh, and sign me up for getting fired for $3mil, too.  I’d even take being fired for $300k, if you were offering.

  32. If you need the clearance, the Forester is the best choice, though Honda CRV is a superb alternative.  I bought a matrix for my daughter, who doesn’t go off asphalt.  An AWD car, not SUV, is ideal if you don’t need the clearance, because SUV’s have a lot of other drawbacks.  But growing up in the country on a farm, I know about ruts too…in fact, I brought my F-250 in from the farm when my dad died.
The coach’s contract did call for $4.2 million if he played out the final year, so the buyout did save the taxpayers enough to pay the new coach about a million to take his place.  Grin and bear it, I guess.  Despite my contempt for Churchill, I grimace when critics say CU is just Churchill or Barnett.  I taught there for 8 years (adjunct) and most faculty are damn good.  I don’t give a damn about football, but the program makes money and thus subsidizes the mandated, money-losing Title IX sports, so I guess we have to grin and bear that too.
I can’t really afford to buy you out for even 300K, but will buy you a George Killians if I ever run into you at Duffy’s, PR.  A leftie like you who can put up with a warmonger like me and still drive a Subaru can’t be all bad.

  33. Oops, missed a question.  Raiders, there isn’t a single list on gas stations that I know of.  I just follow news and research on websites.

For example, Western wants to do a lot of drilling out in Utah and Colorado wilderness areas.  Of the companies previously interested in ANWR (ExxonMobil, Chevron, Conoco, and BP) only Exxon is still interested (though none have given up rights).  BP gets its oil from Alaska, Central/South America, Russia, and Africa.  BP, Shell, and Chevron have all now announced that they understand the problems with a future of petrofuels, but all have been cited for mounting extensive “greenwashing” ad campaigns that overstate their environmental activism, too.  Citgo is the state-run Venezuelan oil company, for better or worse (and it’s definitely a mixed bag).  Pretty much all the oil companies suck when it comes to environmental regulations, though.  Most of the oil companies’ web sites have info on the sources of their oil.

  34. PR, I go to any station that has a “pay at the pump”. Hate to pre-pay.

Voyageur, I love my F250. We bought the King Ranch edition dual cab long bed. Pulls my 37′ 5th wheel as fast as you want to go.
I have been waiting for one of those new Nissan Titans to brag so I can pull him the opposite way while tugging my camper…..
