Clintons Coming to Aspen

  • by: Colorado Pols

As the Rocky Mountain News reports:

Sen. Hillary Clinton and former President Clinton will be in Aspen this weekend, although for different reasons.

Hillary Clinton will be attending two fundraisers Saturday for her Democratic presidential campaign, while President Clinton is scheduled to speak the same day at the Aspen Ideas Festival.

“She spoke at the (Aspen) Institute last year,” said Michael Goldberg, who is organizing the fundraisers for Hillary Clinton.

Goldberg is hosting a cocktail reception from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Belly Up, 450 S. Galena St. Admission is $1,000.

That will be followed by a fundraising dinner from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Matsuhisa restaurant, 303 E. Main St. Tickets for that event are $2,300.

    1. Very good point David. In Aspen there are the rich ( New Yorkers, Californians) and those who work for them ( mostly Coloradans).

Just hold it in Manhattan and save the airfare and carbon imprint.  Her donors need to check on their 10,000 SQFT chalets though.

      1. I can’t speak for all of them Ralphie.  But I do know quite a few local Coloradans that work as up there as hotel staff, bartenders and waiters ( and one personal chef for the rich who makes home cooked meals every night for a few uber rich when they come into town – sheesh).

        1. They may not live in Aspen (how could they possibly afford it?) but they are in-state folks, at least a good many of them are.

  1. I *was* going to go to Aspen this weekend, but with the Big Dog and HRC in town, maybe I’ll cancel and avoid the traffic jam.

OTOH, the news this morning is that neither of Hillary’s fund-raisers is sold out yet – I suppose that happens when you announce an event two days before it’s scheduled.

    1. Also in the news was more of the same. I like the Clinton’s. I think electing a woman President would do a lot of good to shine our imagine globally. But, I don’t want more of the same. This may just be a campaign hick-up, but I hope they clean it up.

“Clinton continued to refuse to answer questions from the reporters traveling with her, holding scripted events and organizing meetings behind closed doors.”

And Rovian political strategists should not be apart of their camp.

“Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s chief strategist is being accused of illegal eavesdropping in a lawsuit that alleges he and his polling firm monitored the personal e-mails of a former associate who started a rival company.”
