Lamborn's FRANKLY breaking the law.

I have a piece of Mr. L’s frank mail so I went ahead and looked up the frank mail regulations (link here to see the full rules/regs) and have several interesting violations.

“Official documents MUST NOT contain…Personal greetings.”
Lamborn’s frank mail: “Dear Friend, I… [signed] Doug Lamborn”
How is that not a personal greeting?

“Personal references must average eight (8) per page. (i.e. the Congressman’s name, “I,” “Me,” “Representative,” or “Congressman”).”
Lamborn’s frank mail? 13 “I” references, 9 “Lamborn” references, and 9 “Me” and “My” references.

HMMM. Violations?

  1. But seeing as it was reviewed by the Franking Commission before it was sent out, these “violations” don’t seem to matter.  And using his own name and a generic greeting are not “personal greetings.”  In fact, using his own name is required.

Anyway, my point is that I doubt Vern Ehlers or anyone else cares how many times Lamebrain uses his name in his franking pieces…  It’s probably safe to assume he’s not the only one breaking the law on this one.

  2. Getting approval from the franking commission is not carte blanche license. In fact… every case of frank mail violation is frank mail that was “approved.”
