The recent Michael Vick dog fighting stories reminded me of Senator Wayne Allard’s noble, multi-year efforts to pass legislation making cock and dog fighting illegal. I was also reminded of Doug Lamborn’s horrid position and his vote AGAINST the bill.
So here is the ColoradoPols story.
Representative Lamborn should publicly comment on the alleged Michael Vick case. I am a constituent and I want to know why he votes for the barbaric practice.
“U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-5th) voted against a bill to crack down on the barbaric and inhumane practices of illegal dog fighting and cockfighting – a cause long championed by Colorado Senator Wayne Allard. The House approved the measure, advocated by The Humane Society of the United States, by a commanding vote of 368-39,” as reported last week in the Leadville, Colorado paper:

he can remember when they first domesticated wolves! 🙂
How does this fit into the “culture of life”? He won’t answer me.
on a different issue.
They weren’t interested in my offer of help, but at least they called to say so.
When Joel was in office, I never got in to see him, even once. I never got a call back.
During floor debate on an appropriations bill, Lamborn quoted part of a “Porkbusters” petition offering to help Congress evaluate earmark requests. “[V]olunteers are now coming forward, and the American people are standing ready and they will be willing to help,” Lamborn said.
Every last one of our Congressmen should reveal their earmarks. But, Lamborn’s failure to disclose his is downright galling. If he wants to cast political stones at other for their sins, why doesn’t he reveal his own? It goes back to his mantra, “I am without sin. Let me cast the first stone.”
As the ONLY Colorado State Senator voting in Colorado against a ban on female genital mutilation (31 Colorado state senators of both parties disagreed with him), and as the ONLY Colorado member of the U.S. House voting against federal laws criminalizing dogfighting (368 House members voted for the bill, 39 against–including Lamborn) you’re viewing Doug Lamborn’s political soul. I don’t believe in reincarnation, but, if I did, I would want neither to be a dog nor a woman in Doug Lamborn’s House.
