JARED POLIS ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN LOGO CONTEST

Congressional candidate opens logo contest to the public and encourages all to participate

Boulder, CO – Wednesday, August 1, 2006 – Congressional candidate Jared Polis, has announced a public contest to design the official logo for his campaign , to be unveiled at the grand opening of his campaign headquarters on September 9th, 2007.  This contest exemplifies the campaign’s progressive and innovative direction and furthers his commitment to run a people’s campaign.

“I am very excited about this contest.  This campaign is about the people and now everyone has a chance to take part in one of the most forward-thinking campaigns in the country,” said Former Chairman of the State Board of Education Jared Polis.  “Whether you, your kids, or your grandkids submit a digital design or a hand-delivered crayon design, just be creative and have fun.  This campaign is about you!”

The contest is open to the public and participants are encouraged to submit their unique and inspired designs.  The winning logo will be one that reflects the campaign’s progressive message of innovation, hope and opportunity.  Anyone is welcome to submit a design.  All participants are encouraged to be as imaginative and original as possible in creating their designs.  The primary design requirements are creativity and fresh ideas.  Additional design suggestions are on the official contest website at www.polisforcongress.com.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for people to get involved in one of the most innovative and unique campaigns in the country,” said campaign web-designer and Graphic Arts Guild member, Andrew Hyde.  “Jared’s commitment to making this campaign about the people is exemplified in this contest.  I wish everyone the best of luck and will work with the winner to make sure that their logo is the best it can be.”

The deadline for the contest will be August 19th, 2007 at midnight.  All submissions should be sent to LogoContest@polisforcongress.com, or to 1725 Walnut St., Suite A., Boulder, CO 80302.  The winner of the contest will be awarded $200 and two runners-up will each receive $100.  The announcement will be made on September 9th, 2007 at the grand opening of the Polis for Congress headquarters in Boulder, CO.

About Jared Polis

In 2000, Jared Polis won statewide office to the Colorado State Board of Education and served as the youngest Chair in the history of the Board. During his six-year tenure, he was a strong advocate for school reform and enhancing educational opportunities. He played an instrumental role in the passage of Amendment 23 to improve state funding for public schools.

The Jared Polis Foundation was founded in 2000 to improve and expand access to education through computer recycling, teacher appreciation, and by serving at-risk youth by creating two innovative charter schools that continue to meet the needs of underserved students: the New America School, aimed at extending the benefits of English literacy and a high school liberal arts education to all students; and the Academy of Urban Learning, founded to serve teens who struggle with homelessness or unstable living conditions.

Having co-founded his first company, American Information Systems while still in college, Polis has launched several successful business ventures since, including bluemountain.com, Proflowers.com and other online start-ups. He has been named an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year and one of the top ten young entrepreneurs by Success Magazine.

Jared is a native of Boulder and received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Princeton University.

  1. A big rainbow over a picture of Jared’s head with little dollar signs raining down from the blue sky above.

That would get his message across.
