SD 23: Joe Whitcomb Starts Strong

  • by: TakeBackTheHouse

I spent last evening helping out at the home of District Attorney Don Quick, who hosted the kick-off party for Senate District 23 candidate Joe Whitcomb.

It was an impressive showing of party unity, and brought together Jared Polis, Joan Fitz-Gerald, Will Shafroth, Ann Ragsdale, John Soper, Cherylin Penniston, Lois Tochtrop, Karen Stuart, and a list of community leaders so long that the more I name the more I am worried that I will inevitably leave off the most important VIPs. There were really too many to catalog.

Bill Winter gave a great introduction, and Veterans for America stalwart, Bill Holen spoke on behalf of Congressman Ed Perlmutter, who is out of the country on a trade mission with Condoleezza Rice. Betsy Markey spoke to the crowd, and Sen. Salazar made a surprise phone call of support.

There were so many people in the room with the titles Mayor, Chair, Vice-Chair, and Councilwoman that it would have been easy to overlook the many people who were there just because the representation that they have been getting is not what they want for themselves, their children, and their community. But they were there and contributed what they could to help fight for their future.

Some of the donations came from the powerful, some came from the humble, but nearly all of them came with great pledges of support as well as dollars. I scanned in one of my favorites.
