A typically goofy comment from the tragically misnamed “ColoradoPolitical” reminded me that the Fort Collins Coloradoan summed up the financial numbers for SD-14, HD-52 and HD-53. Here you go:

The three Fort Collins incumbents seeking re-election to state legislative seats generally expanded their money leads over their Republican challengers in new campaign finance reports filed this week.
Democratic state Rep. John Kefalas has almost $30,000 in the bank as he prepares for his re-election campaign against Republican Bob McCluskey, according to reports filed with the Colorado secretary of state Monday. McCluskey, who beat Kefalas for the House District 52 seat in 2004 before losing to him in 2006, has $14,600 cash on hand, tops among Fort Collins Republican challengers.
In neighboring House District 53, Democratic incumbent Randy Fischer reports having more than $27,000 on hand, compared to just over $2,300 for Republican Donna Gallup.
In the race for Senate District 14, Democratic incumbent Bob Bacon has more than $28,000 banked for the fall campaign, compared to $4,700 for Republican challenger Matt Fries.
It’s obviously amateur night for the GOP in SD-14 and HD-53, but it’s surprising that Kefalas has been able to build a 2:1 COH advantage over Bob McCluskey, a former two-termer in that seat. Looks like Republican prospects in Fort Collins continue to appear pretty dim.
