Got Married, Part 2 (Obama style)

This summer we got married as seen here with this video  and this posting . While we did have our ceremony on July 5th, due to a few legal technicalities we had to have an official civil ceremony in Colorado to make it everything legit.

So we planned a small service with the two of us and a judge. That’s it – nothing fancy, just a quick ‘I do’ and back to the campaign. Well, a funny thing happens when both you and your wife are working on the campaign, and the judge you find for the ceremony happens to be volunteering for the Obama campaign for the coming of the Democratic Convention.

More below…

How did we get to a Judge volunteering for Obama marrying us? It starts with my wife – she is the political director for SEIU of Colorado. And after finishing my work with Protect Colorado’s Future, I was fortunate enough to get to work on the  SEIU’s presidential campaign for Obama, (along with our training in Ohio with our guest speaker, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland)

The training was in July, right after our wedding in NC, and just before full campaign mode. With barely a second to spare between then and the convention, I called a judge on Denver’s  “weekend and nighttime” marriage judge list. I talked to her once, and found out she was also busy – very busy – turns out, as a volunteer for Obama, driving volunteers to make signs for Obama.

So, we ended up getting married at SEIU headquarters at night, by an Obama volunteer (who i will say is certainly an ‘activist’ judge ) while other volunteers made Obama signs. (who became witnesses – and then went back to work making signs 🙂

Very Zen moment I must say.

see for yourself…

Great shot of Judge ‘MOOSE’ (not sure if she wants to be ‘outed’ politically, but she is ALL FOR OBAMA!!!)

best man and bridesmaid…

(by the way – if you are working or volunteering for Obama, you’ll recognize my ‘zombie face’ in this shot – tired, but still in it to win it for Obama)

oh well, time for bed and to get ready for our fundraiser for Betsy Markey and Joe Whitcomb – by the way if you are in Denver for the DNC, you are invited.

  1. Why are you highlighting her alleged support for Obama, which has nothing to do with her official role in your wedding?  Her alleged political affiliations are supposed to be completely separate from her judicial duties, and you’re doing her no favors with this post and these pictures!
