It means Bill Clinton would have been the story for the next 70 days. It would have been a ridiculous circus. Now the Clintons get to fade away. That’s good business.
the best argument not to pick HRC. Bill at best would have been a distraction, at worst he would have been trying to suck all the attention his way. I think you are really fooling yourself if you think the Clintons will fade away. Bill by himself is too much of a publicity hound to do that.
but I don’t think that Karl Rove has ever had an honest opinion about this race. If he was saying Obama/Clinton would have been unbeatable then it was probably because he knew it wouldn’t be.
However, if Obama loses, I’m sure your point will not be forgotten by the history books. Really we’ll never know just how powerful (or weak) that ticket would have been.
But I certainly am being honest about it. I couldn’t imagine who wouldn’t vote for that ticket as a Dem, and now, even though it might be negligible, you have a group that’s talking about sitting out or voting for McCain.
Now, if McCain names Colin Powell as his running mate, it’s over the other way. Don’t think it will happen (it is a rumor, though), but I’d be just as excited as I would have been dismayed at Obama/HRC.
